What a disappointing Sunday for the Alfa Romeos, I was so looking forward for them to capitalize. π¬

I don't bother getting my hopes up any more.
Are Aston Martin back to be a midfield team again? There last races see lackluster compared to the beginning of the season.
Feels like the change in compound hit them hard.
Yup. ALO has pretty much confirmed it.
What a brilliant first lap from Piastri. Aggressive, precise, clean. I hadn't paid too much attention to him this year, but it's starting to look like he has the promise of a successful F1 career.
I still have my doubts. His race craft is good for sure, but his race pace isn't quite up to snuff yet.
Hopefully it comes with age and experience, but I just have this nagging feeling he'll never get to WDC pace material. Think Sainz to Leclerc's, or Bottas to Lewis.
Yeah probably not a future WDC. Sainz and Bottas are successful drivers in my book though. And we've had a fair amount of underperforming rookies these past years so seeing Piastri fighting near the front and keeping out of trouble is pretty cool.
I thought Danny Ric had a good race given the start. Managed to maintain position on the mediums. Astonβs and Ferraris continue to feel a bit invisible. Congrats to Redbull for the record, deserve it.
Frustrating but promising for Alpha Tauri, if Ricciardo had a clean start he may have finished in the points given the race pace.
Post-race show saying that Ocon's seat snapped in half from the collision with his teammate. Wow.
A very incident filled race start. Alfa literally threw away the best thing to happen to them all season and ruined other drivers races to boot. RUS must be chuffed that it created a massive opportunity for him and he took full advantage of it. I think we are going to see Zhou in a PSA about texting and driving.
Zhou learning a bit too much from his team mate about how to handle turn 1 at Hungary.
Robottas is corrupting our innocent Chinese driver.
We need a victory from Lando. WE FUC**NG NEED IT!!!
Weekend Warm-up Pundit Prediction Performance
Pundit | 1st | 2nd | 3rd | Points |
---|---|---|---|---|
Alex | Max | Lewis | Charles | 2 |
Laura | Max | Lewis | Sergio | 4 |
Sam | Max | Fernando | Charles | 2 |
Ignoring Max, Laura's the only one to make any accurate predictions after Checo's improved performance. Ferrari being Ferrari is detrimental to Alex and Sam.
Pundit (appearances) | Points | Average |
---|---|---|
Laura (9) | 25 | 2.78 |
Lawrence (8) | 19 | 2.38 |
Jolyon (3) | 13 | 4.33 |
Will (6) | 9 | 1.50 |
Rosanna (2) | 8 | 4.00 |
Alex (2) | 6 | 3.00 |
Sam (2) | 4 | 2.00 |
James (1) | 4 | 4.00 |
Laura increases her lead as we head to Belgium for the last race before summer break.
I keep wondering what channels these pundits are from. I have no idea who any of these people are.
F1TV. They are really quite a good team, I always enjoy putting the pre-weekend show on in the background.
They're aight.
That was an alright race. Terrible for the Alpines though, to both be out in the first lap.
And ofc Ferrari doing Ferrari things as usual.
Glad to see Norris P2, but I am curious about the undercut of Piastri he did. That seems unusual to undercut your own teammate like that.
But Max like 33+ secs ahead of Norris at the end is just insane.
I don't think it was intentional to undercut Piastri. I think they boxed to cover off Hamilton and then Lando put up a ridiculous out lap.
Yes. They did it to protect both drivers not give NOR an advantage. Just happened to work out that way. Maybe they should have swapped places in the middle stint but that would have been tricky to negotiate.
And funnily enough that's exactly what they predicted on the f1tv stream. People questioning why Norris would undercut Piastri.
Max: That was enjoyable. Lando: Let's fucking go!
I was kind of underwhelmed by todays race. There were some sparse interesting moments. Feel like we missed multiple due to cameras being elsewhere.
Good to see McLaren competitive.
This kind of used to be the norm at Hungaroring until we had a few years of rain and it being one of the few places Merc's PU wasn't super effective. It's not really a great track for racing.
Mercedes was slow car in the beginning but came into its own in the end. But a little too late in the race for anything.
At the start it looked like carrying too much weight, couldn't accelerate, couldn't turn.
Great to see a good performance of Checo once again.
Very good race, sad the alpine didn't make out of the 1st lap. Very happy to see Checo's recovery. Awesome job from the McLaren boys. Let's keep it up!
I'm hoping Checo is back in right headspace after this weekend. Almost went south again when he went into the wall in that Free Practice. But he recovered excellently.
