Guantanamo Bay seems pretty secure already. Why not just send him there?

Should he go to prison? Yes.
Should anyone who conspired with him and/or a foreign entity to overthrow our government also go to prison? Also yes!
Will the majority of these people, especially Trump, serve any prison time whatsoever? Probably not.
A bunch of them already have — notably Michael Cohen. It's just Trump who hasn't yet.
You think McConnell will go? Supreme Court justices? Other senators or congressmen?
This specific trial could get Trump prison time if he's convicted. The other branches weren't involved in this specific set of actions, as culpable as they may be for other things.
If Trump goes to prison for anything at all, I will happily admit that I am wrong
I mean the DOJ would hate that, they would have to clear all those guards (who are just fucked) and the prison in general would just not live up to security standards they would require. This would end up like a cartel boss going in, they would have to make a place and then the SS would be the guards.
That behind-the-scenes conversation [...] focused only on how to move and protect Mr. Trump if the judge were to order him briefly jailed for contempt in a courthouse holding cell, the people said.
Well, that's disappointing.
The far more substantial challenge — how to safely incarcerate a former president if the jury convicts him and the judge sentences him to prison rather than home confinement or probation — has yet to be addressed directly
It can't be probation, he'll just violate it constantly.
