Multi-billion dollar companies are far more enlightened now. Instead of instantly draining their customers and disposing of them, they now drain their customers over the course of a lifetime through subscriptions.

Maybe stop humanizing/anthropomorphizing corporations? Can't expect a large group of individuals maximizing profits to be caring and mindful.

[–] IrateAnteater@sh.itjust.works 19 points 7 months ago (1 children)

What? Are you trying to say that corporations aren't people, and that treating them as such is fucking stupid?

[–] p5yk0t1km1r4ge@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago (1 children)

WHAT? Madness! You're speaking madness! Corporations love us! They're people too!

[–] Senshi@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago (1 children)

But if they were people, they'd surely be in jail for all the heinous crimes they committed?

[–] p5yk0t1km1r4ge@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

Whaaaaaaaaat? Corporations don't do anything remotely suspicious!

I would say apple fans, but it's pervasive everywhere in tech, except maybe not in farming equipment.

Yes it's wild. I meant wrt fanboyism, John Deere at this point is defacto a monopoly and their newer products are actually less coveted then earlier ones because of the rampant anti-consumer practices.

That doesn't make him wrong.

He's referring to fanboys.

Farmers get locked in to a brand cause of contacts high costs, but none I know "love" and of the big brands

Who's buying all the John Deere trucker hats and such, then?

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 7 points 7 months ago

Suburban conservatives.

People who have never owned any equipment larger than a riding mower.

"And now your children owe us $100,000 for your corpse disposal fee."

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 8 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I love the stuff you make, multi billion dollar company, but I hate you!

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 9 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Turns out multi-billion dollar company was primarily just involved in hoarding, and then selectively releasing, the necessary capital for the things the people under it make.

[–] samus12345@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

All the more reason to obtain the things multi billion dollar company hoards digitally without going through official channels.

As much as people agree with it, they won't do a single damn thing to change their choices. I've been in IT for about a decade and absolutely nobody has changed no matter how much they hate what these terrible companies have done.

Political change could lead to more restrictive policies.. but,...

[–] CableMonster@lemmy.ml 1 points 7 months ago

You left out the part where alcohol, weed and others are the soma.

[–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 1 points 7 months ago

The most important soma at this day and age is social media.
