1x HDMI Input

I have only ever seen video inputs into capture cards - would this input allow for capturing HDMI input? Or does it have some other purpose

edit - older Pi but it seems you can! https://mickmake.com/post/orange-pi-rk3399-hdmi-recording-on-a-budget-review/

This is an interesting feature indeed.

Thanks for pointing this feature out, wonder if the HDMI input stability has improved since that review in the older or these newer boards.

This is pretty neat but I'm not planning to buy another Orange Pi after finding out they won't boot from eMMC while an SD card is present.

It won't let you change the boot order?

[–] jkrtn@lemmy.ml 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Yeah there was no option that I could find. And I don't think it will fall back to the eMMC if the SD is not bootable, my understanding is that it just doesn't boot in that case.

That's pretty silly.

It's cool but why would I want to use this over an old workstation or tiny x86 PC?

At the prices on the page it seems like way too much my general IoT usage.

I chose sbcs for the power they draw. These things are always on, so I want them to consume as little as possible.

Up to 32GB of RAM? Am I seeing this correctly or is it my sleep deprivation messing with my brain?

[–] entropicdrift@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 7 months ago

You're seeing it right. These things can get decently beefy

Up to 16 on the pro and 32 on the Pi Plus

I was tired of the "pro" thing in general, but seeing it's not "middle level" makes it even worse
