I miss Tarja, but that is an incredible performance. Most bands sound kinda bad live, it is much more difficult to sing live vs in a studio and far fewer elements are in your control. Yet, despite Nightwish's vocals being so challenging she hits every note while singing live and headbanging surrounded by constant pyro. So much hard work must have gone into preparing for this set, what a pro.

What's crazier is that this set was still when Floor was still "just" a fill-in temp.
On a side note, I got into Nightwish back in the Tarja days. Not like super-fan, but definitely in my regular rotation. Completely missed all the drama, so when I heard there was a new single I was VERY confused when I listened to Amaranth. Not what I was expecting, and not really what I was looking for. So I tuned out and just listened to the older stuff... missing the drama yet again. Missed it so hard that I didn't even realize there was another singer change until 2018. Watched a few live videos... then needed to scrape my jaw off of the floor. No pun intended.
Always love it seeing/hearing it live. But I think "Ghost love score" is even better, especially the Wacken 2013 version. Those last notes!
Agreed. But I think DCoW really nails the whole "this is Nightwish" vibe. And this version is probably my favorite rendition.
Oh yeah! And it's "this is nightwish" in a normal song length and not "do you have 10minutes to spare?"
LOL that too. It's hard to get people hyped for a band if it involves the band leaving the stage for a few minutes while a recording plays. I love GLS but it's not my go-to for introductory purposes. We can save that (and Greatest Show on Earth, etc.) for after their interest has been piqued. 😁
I wish I could have seen it live
Same. I wasn't actively following the band at that point (see my other comment), but I did jump at the most recent chance to see them. Plot twist: the tickets were bought in February 2020. 😶 The scheduled concert didn't happen for two more years, and on Mother's Day (US) at that. By that time Marko had left, and we were considerably less enthused about the two hour train ride into NYC. So we decided to skip the concert. Which sucked.
