This greatly increases memory usage of course. So if performance degrades, try finding a happy middle ground.

I've never used it but there is also an undo Memory limit. So I guess you could maybe use that to keep blender from wrecking your system if you have the max undo steps.
Who would win: 17 chromium tabs or blender at 256 undo levels
Depending on what you're doing, it's blender at 1 undo step
