The head of a Gaza City hospital that treated some of those wounded in the bloodshed surrounding an aid convoy said Friday that more than 80% had been struck by gunfire, suggesting there was heavy shooting by Israeli troops.

At least 115 Palestinians were killed and more than 750 others injured Thursday, according to health officials, when witnesses said nearby Israeli troops opened fire as huge crowds raced to pull goods off an aid convoy. Israel said many of the dead were trampled in a stampede that started when desperate Palestinians in Gaza rushed the aid trucks. Israel said its troops fired warning shots after the crowd moved toward them in a threatening way.

Dr. Mohammed Salha, the acting director of Al-Awda Hospital, told The Associated Press that of the 176 wounded brought to the facility, 142 had gunshot wounds and the other 34 showed injuries from a stampede.

AP having difficulties to find the word "massacare"

TL;DR: ~80% of the flour massacare victims were shot by the IDF, not crowd crushed

Amazing that their initial excuse was "No, no, it wasn't us shooting them that caused the deaths, it was the stampede..."

Yeah, genius, and WHAT caused the stampede? Oh, the SHOOTING? Right...

I was amazed I had to post pictures of shot people so often yesterday. All the IDF has to do is make up some blatant bullshit for an extreme war crime and the onus lies on others to disprove it.

Just make sure you link the images, or NSFW them. Lots of folks are sensitive about death and gore.

Honestly, the point of posting such pictures is to rub people's noses in what they are defending. Part of the problem is we keep on censoring ourselves because it makes us uncomfortable.

Oh, I get that, and they probably deserve it, but the random person just scrolling comments doesn't. ;)

No worries I'll always put a huge disclaimer in front of them.

Could you repost the links here? I want to show them to some people trying to say it was a stampede.

“We've asked the government of Israel to investigate and it's our assessment that they're taking this seriously and they are looking into what occurred, so as to avoid tragedies like this from happening again,” National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby told reporters during Friday’s news briefing.

Kirby pointed to previous examples of Israel investigating incidents and said they have been “very honest and upfront” about mistakes. Kirby added that they have not given Israel a timeline to complete their investigation.

Don't worry everyone, the Biden administration trusts that Isreal will investigate and give us an honest assessment of any "mistakes" they made. Now please just go back to being mad at Wendy's while Biden goes around Congress to ship another batch of bombs to Israel to be dropped on apartment buildings and refugee camps.

[–] wewbull@feddit.uk 5 points 7 months ago

This just in. No mistakes were made. No Israelis found in the massacred group.

Not sure if you saw the update but actually Israel didn't do anything more than just fire a few warning shots!

The review, he said, which gathered information from commanders and troops in the field, determined that no strike was carried out towards the aid convoy.

"The majority of Palestinians were killed or injured as a result of the stampede," Hagari said.

The dozens of Palestinians with bullet holes in them that day got them from, um, something else.

We didn't do it everyone died from crowd crushing.

But now that there's a video with gun sounds, we did do it but we only fired into the air.

But now that there's evidence of bullet wounds, Hamas did it.

But now that the BBC analysis shows that we did it, we were defending ourselves.

[–] bartolomeo@suppo.fi 2 points 7 months ago

Lol yea, they even

released a heavily edited video to deflect blame

but it went pretty much exactly how you described it.

Clarifying, 100% were because of the gunfire. 80% were gunshot wounds, the rest were injuries sustained as a result of the fleeing from the gunfire. None of this includes the suffering, misery, and pain already caused by previous injuries, starvation, and the looming sense of absolute terror, dread, and hopelessness already caused by previous bombings and shootings during the Israeli invasion so far underway.

[–] bartolomeo@suppo.fi 8 points 7 months ago

Even worse when you consider the victims were already starving to death.

[–] Semi-Hemi-Demigod@kbin.social 7 points 7 months ago

Yes but did the doctor condemn Hamas?

[–] gmtom@lemmy.world -4 points 7 months ago (2 children)

You mean "Hamas doctor claims 80% of injuries at his Hamas hospital came from tragic, accidentally gunshots"? Or are you an antisemite?

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 2 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

Wow, people, the downvotes. This is so obviously satire.
