So thankful that I can work from home with weather like this.

I read this morning they got a suspect in that triple murder yesterday. I'm surprised my first thought was murder suicide

[–] maniacalmanicmania@aussie.zone 3 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Do you mean you thought one of the murdered people was the murderer?

[–] Marin_Rider@aussie.zone 3 points 8 months ago

initially yeah without further info, sounded like another "husband kills family, self" story. that said the way the 3rd body (husband) was found and the other dude with stab wounds, I really don't know what to think about this one. need more info

ALDI branded diet ginger beer. Not had this before. I'm a fan of the Bundy diet ginger beer. Wonder if this will be any good.

It was ginger beer all right! Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me but I think the Bundy is a bit crisper.

I forgot to brush my teeth. Mmm furry.

A new week!

I'm gonna remember the time and walk like an Egyptian, cause I'm ready for a perfect storm

Yeah, they are gonna throw me out of the Ramses & the Gold of the Pharoahs exhibition at the Australian Museum for singing and dancing and whistling.

Again....

Another day of procrastination.

@maniacalmanicmania @sydbot Still procrastinating?

(If you want to hold off on replying, I'm happy to wait.)

Ahh yeah it was a bit of a wasted day. Then I saw the word 'productivity' in a headline about WFH and promptly exited stage left from reading any more news. I've retreated to the kitchen and laundry to do some chores.

[–] ajsadauskas@aus.social 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

@maniacalmanicmania If the laundry's done, how's that a wasted day?

I mean, it is productivity, just not for your boss.

[–] maniacalmanicmania@aussie.zone 1 points 8 months ago

Yeah those are the little things I say to myself too. Thanks AJ.

I know there were cuts to funding, and Murdoch wants to kill it along with ABC, SBS and the BBC, but I'm getting tired of the Bureau of Meteorology Sydney weather forecasts

Every. Single. Day. Is. The. Same.

  • Possible rainfall. 0 to 7mm. Chance of rain:80%. --> It might rain or not
  • Sunny morning. High chance of showers late this afternoon and evening. --> Sunny or rainy, idk ...
  • A thunderstorm likely during this afternoon and evening, possibly severe with damaging winds, heavy falls and large hail. -->Storm? Storms are bad! Might be bad!
  • Light winds becoming southerly 30 to 45 km/h in the evening.--> Not very windy, then windy. You choose.

W T F???!!??!!!!! Is this written by AI just using every possible weather scenario? Or do they have to pass it through the lawyers before it's published?

I thought we'd be getting more accurate and more precise with weather predictions, but it seems like it's just "Throw everything in there and at least one will be right"

/end rant

As an aside, I read somewhere decades ago, that the most accurate weather prediction was that the weather tomorrow would be the same as it was today - and that was accurate about 70% of the time and beat all other weather prediction models. I don't even know why I'm still typing lol 😭

[–] maniacalmanicmania@aussie.zone 2 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

Yo it's so hot and gross. Today's weather is nothing at all like yesterday's so that 70% thing wouldn't have worked for guesstimating today. Maybe BOM got today's weather right but I didn't check and had no idea it was gonna be like this.

I be drinking so much water. I have to pick up a few things for dinner but I really don't wanna go out.

Fireworks can't beat a good thunder and lightning show.

I got smashed by the heat and humidity hiking in the mountains yesterday. Luckily I could cool off in a creek.

Hope those folks make a speedy recovery.

Imagine living next to a coffee roaster but instead of coffee being roasted it's cookies being baked. The very sweet aroma of cookies being baked nearly every day of the week.

[–] maniacalmanicmania@aussie.zone 1 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Nice rain, that's a good rain, who's a good rain.

[–] ajsadauskas@aus.social 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)
[–] maniacalmanicmania@aussie.zone 1 points 8 months ago (1 children)

You know it. Didn't stick around though! Maybe more is on the way.

[–] ajsadauskas@aus.social 2 points 8 months ago

@maniacalmanicmania Let's hope not!

Meanwhile, juy, one more work email to send and I'm done for the week.

Another day as a humanoid on a random planet in a random solar system in a random galaxy in a random universe.

Coffee please.

[–] maniacalmanicmania@aussie.zone 1 points 8 months ago

Why so cold Sydney?

[–] maniacalmanicmania@aussie.zone 1 points 8 months ago

I can smell bacon cooking.
