!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

MODERATORS

Edit: Yep, it worked. AND it duplicates notifications since they're comment replies

I see there's a section for it in the inbox, but I haven't gotten one yet so I'm not sure if it works. Does it only work in the local instance or across the fediverse? Is it only for comments, or does it include posts as well?

@rcmaehl@lemmy.world I believe it how you do it. I've been mentioned before in that format and got an inbox notification.

Hello @rcmaehl@lemmy.world

[–] rikudou@lemmings.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It also works without the link, juat the name is enough.

[–] natflow@apollo.town 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

FYI that’s true but it’s also a special case because this community is on their home server (like a relative link). So it’s probably easiest for folks in general to use the fully qualified mention (an absolute link).

[–] rikudou@lemmings.world 1 points 1 year ago

I meant without literal link, like you just write the name as a texr, you still need to include the domain (as far as I know).

[–] rikudou@lemmings.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yep, they do, that's how I implemented a ChatGPT bot.

Edit: It seems it has been banned here, but anywhere else you just mention @ChatGPT@lemmings.world in your comment and the bot will reply.

Mentions don’t work for me. A person mentioned me in a post and never got the notification. I only noticed because I saw the post on my front page.

@rcmaehl@lemmy.world Unrelated but are you the same RC Maehl that used to always superchat the WAN Show?

[–] rcmaehl@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Yes. Although a situation occurred and I believe Linus is mad at me after I fubar'd a superchat.

[–] counselwolf@lemmy.fmhy.ml 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

fubar'd? What does that mean?

[–] rcmaehl@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

F-ucked U-p B-eyond A-ll R-epair

[–] ZERO16LIVES@vlemmy.net 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Huh, weird to find you out in the wild like this, neat. Why would he be mad you paid for it lol

[–] rcmaehl@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No, I had mistyped a superchat and it made me come off as more of an attention(?) whore than I really am.

I had been dealing with moving to a new place and hadn't been able to catch the live show for a while. I was messing around trying to get the message short enough and left off "in a while" and the chat came off as if it was my first time catching WAN.

I died inside that day, although I still contribute to news topics for WAN/TechLinked via their forums when I find something interesting.

[–] ZERO16LIVES@vlemmy.net 2 points 1 year ago

I think I actually kinda remember that? I remember it coming off as a joke

[–] heterophobe@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago
