The couple went to bed and did not inquire about their 18-month-old until Joel asked one of the older children to check on the toddler at about 11 a.m., the sheriff's office said. After the toddler was not found inside the house, Joel found her still strapped in her car seat unresponsive.

Not to mention that there at 11 AM the heat index was 105 already and the car was in the sun.

That and having alcohol, weed, and meth(!) in their systems.

Did you load your small child into the car? Take a shoe off and leave it next to the car seat.

Or you know, don’t get fucking loaded when you’re out with your kids

Ok yeah but also do the shoe thing. Mine are old enough now but it was one of the my biggest fears for years.

Meh when I want to party I do it after the kids are in bed, mom is home, and I stagger home fine. My kids have never seen me wasted and never will.
