The disrespect in some of those comments thinking they should be allowed to leave homes empty all year when people are lying in the streets.

Removing interest-expense deductions for airBNB is a possible solution. This will somewhat switch the profitability balance towards rentals, while having a fairly minimal impact on legit owners who are AirBNBing a property that they own for the purpose of residing
