Hej :) I have cycled through Scandinavia and fell in love with scandinavia, I am planing on moving to Scandinavia but I can not decide on which country. Actually i was Planung to move to Sweden and also speak A2 level Swedish but the government is more on the right wing side.

I am F. early 20 asian looking human rights activist deeply believe in a cosmopolitan system, democracy, care a lot about the lgbtq+ community and dislike „Asian“ style parenting and that family hierarchy stuff. I am afraid of racism and disacceptance for me as a human being. As German, people here can be quite racist, Germans never saw me as German, often ask me where I „really“ from, kids on the street do Asian eye gesture… even my friends often ask me about Asian country and culture related stuff. I have just as much knowledge as most of the Germans do. Why is that different? So which of these two countries might suit me better? Or maybe none of them?

I offer: skiing skills, alpine climb experience, love for licorice, dried fish and BUTTER. Out going, activism for human rights, love big dogs, MBA in mathematics, ironman distance Triathlet, lifeguard license, bad dad jokes! a living 4 year old sourdough starter! I can make 11 different German breads. Please take me Scandinavia 😅

Going through the previous comments I've seen that your working for a silicon valley company, does this mean you're in the tech business? If that's the case, the bigger cities (Oslo, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö) would be where there would be more job opportunities, unless you secure a position which allows you to work remotely. Not sure about the IT scene of Umeå, but it is an amazing city.

Also, if Norway turns out to be the place to go to, keep in mind their butter and cheese are bloody expensive atm😅

Hahaha now we are talking! That’s a good arguments for Sweden. I do eat a lot of butter. At least right now it looks like, on the Norwegian page(I have posted it twice here and in the r/Norway) side. The people there are way more welcoming. Swedes are more on the reserved sites. Btw yes I work remotely, that’s why I got so much to spend here on Reddit :D

Why not Britain? If you can't stand the German way, here is basicly worse.

Good idea I might set my house right on the border.like on top of østerhogna. :D I consider go northwards. There is the chance very low to be living in a city but still close to the other country.

Equally bad, in norway the alt right party present anymore as carrying the goverment, but instead they have impacted the every day interactions with norweigan. And honestly they are scandanivias 3rd world banana republik to begin with.

Sweden have the alt right carrying forth the right wing goverment, and culturaly sweden are part of east europe yet they want to be part of western europe so the arrogance of average swede is in pair with the french. Both countries are quite inclusive when it comes to far eastern asians, they have more issues with near eastern asians for obvious reasons.

Human rights activist u say? Maybe u settle in a country where human have no rights and change the fuck out of it. There are many human right activists in Sweden, but here they are called unemployed or if they are bulky ”body positive influencer”.

Break a leg and much fortune in the activism where it is needed.

I am neither of these two and I am not interested in going to jail. Activism can be done differently. Not everyone of the Organisation has to go out and protest. Amnesty focus on writing letters. www.amnesty.org if you haven’t read all of my description so keep your voice on the lower end please!

I know amnesty, been a monthly gifter for fifteen years. They only prolong peoples suffering, sadly.

Oh wow that’s amazing! I know these common problems with prolonging. Actually amnesty international is considered one of the most government friendly organizations. Because we „only“ send letters. We do peaceful protests like Ghandi (oh dear I would never compare us with ghandi is just outrageous, but we also practice peaceful demonstrations, which i admire). The good thing about AI ist, because we so so „low“ risk, we can able to see these trapped people in the prison, bringing them personal belonging and informations from their families this is helpful for these people to maintain a strong mental state and do not give up! Many people who came out will be mentally dead, but with those letters we show them people all over the world supports them. Support is important, we still continue to send letters. But actually my work for AI is a different one, I organise publish speaking, workshops in schools, sensibility congress… and of course sometimes I go out and demonstrate too :)

In scandinavia if you act, dress and speak like a scandinavian most will consider you scandinavian the moment you open your mouth.

If you like climbing and hiking, Norway has Sweden beat. I also find Norwegians a bit more into nature and hiking, skiing and the like.

Norway has more money, less fucked up crime. Overall just a lot better.

That’s a quite interesting insight. May i ask how come you have a quite different view on this subject rather than many of the people here in this threat? I certainly do not speak like Scandinavian, and I am not fashionabel mostly I just wear wide comfy stuff. Wearing bath robe to the Supermarkt. 😅

I dunno, maybe I'm bitter. Been to both Norway and Sweden, studied with a lot of Norwegians abroad.

If you don't speak scandinavian but have a thick german accent and act german, people are probably gonna think you're german when you open your mouth.

Bathrobe to aldi or lidl is a no no also in Scandinavia :P

Haha in bathrobe to aldi is also no no in Germany :D But I am really interested in : what is considered as act German? Wearing leather trousers with these weird felt hat drinking beer all day long and eat big chunks of meat? (I am really curious, it’s always interesting to see what other nations think of its own nation :) )

Although you ignore my question, I can tell. But I wonder why as you feel your Asian faces are causing the biggest problem and just ran just a child. As a activist, why don't you try to improve it from the most prominent problem instead of choosing an better comfortable area to live in Stockholm since SJ has an ad for your orgnasition.

Umm, quite similar I guess? Depends on what you're after. No one hates Sweden more than this sub, but both countries are fantastic

The best would be to live in norway but close to the swedish border. Norway is known to be much more expensive
