This is not uncommon in areas where wolves become accustomed to scavenging human corpses - which only really happens during war or famine. I was just hearing about this in the context of early modern French wolf attacks.
NonCredibleDefense
A community for your defence shitposting needs
Rules
1. Be nice
Do not make personal attacks against each other, call for violence against anyone, or intentionally antagonize people in the comment sections.
2. Explain incorrect defense articles and takes
If you want to post a non-credible take, it must be from a "credible" source (news article, politician, or military leader) and must have a comment laying out exactly why it's non-credible. Low-hanging fruit such as random Twitter and YouTube comments belong in the Matrix chat.
3. Content must be relevant
Posts must be about military hardware or international security/defense. This is not the page to fawn over Youtube personalities, simp over political leaders, or discuss other areas of international policy.
4. No racism / hatespeech
No slurs. No advocating for the killing of people or insulting them based on physical, religious, or ideological traits.
5. No politics
We don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Stalinist, Baathist, or some other hot mess. Leave it at the door. This applies to comments as well.
6. No seriousposting
We don't want your uncut war footage, fundraisers, credible news articles, or other such things. The world is already serious enough as it is.
7. No classified material
Classified ‘western’ information is off limits regardless of how "open source" and "easy to find" it is.
8. Source artwork
If you use somebody's art in your post or as your post, the OP must provide a direct link to the art's source in the comment section, or a good reason why this was not possible (such as the artist deleting their account). The source should be a place that the artist themselves uploaded the art. A booru is not a source. A watermark is not a source.
9. No low-effort posts
No egregiously low effort posts. E.g. screenshots, recent reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title. Put these in weekly Matrix chat instead.
10. Don't get us banned
No brigading or harassing other communities. Do not post memes with a "haha people that I hate died… haha" punchline or violating the sh.itjust.works rules (below). This includes content illegal in Canada.
11. No misinformation
NCD exists to make fun of misinformation, not to spread it. Make outlandish claims, but if your take doesn’t show signs of satire or exaggeration it will be removed. Misleading content may result in a ban. Regardless of source, don’t post obvious propaganda or fake news. Double-check facts and don't be an idiot.

Like the one where 400 wolves invaded Paris?
400 wolves invaded Paris
Do note the primary weapon of that fight was "the pointy stick", and not "152mm artillery".
The idea of using artillery against wolves is hilarious to me.
Emu wars 2.0
Civilizations level of mismatched tech
Almost Empire Earth niveau
So now they've enlisted a werewolf pack... Almost feel sorry for the Russians at this point lol.
There was an episode of Love, Death and Robots about this, I think
Almost, but not quite.
🎵"Their suicidal bravery made us feel bad for them,
So on Tuesdays it was heaters-only, Wednesday: BFM"🎵
The suspiciously well-fed dogs of Bakhmut have evolved
That is a scary thought, that wolves are adapting to warfare conditions and are learning the battlefield.
If wolves in the region start seeing humans as a food source, I doubt they would take on a whole battalion, but Injuries on the battlefield will be that much more dangerous.
As hunter packs see any weakness as an exploit for food.
Wolves adapting to humans is how we got dogs. Maybe we'll get something even cooler this time. (Though that would be hard because dogs are pretty damn cool.)
African dogs adapting to hunt beside humans is how we got dogs.
Wolves hunting humans is how you get man eating wolves.
I read 'large wolf pack from Ukraine' and instantly thought 'who gave Ukraine a bunch of submarines'?
Same here I was like FINALLY
"What am I supposed to do if 30-50 feral wolves run into my military base within 3-5 mins while my small soldiers are training?" - Putin
"Carrion"
FFS, they were people, and your own soldiers Russia.
This is likely automatic translation, but I would guess that there was nothing respectful in the first place
Well, it's simple really...
- there are no fallen russians in ba sing se
- following from 1) they must all be Ukrainians and thus must not be paid respect even in death
3,000 blood thirsty wolf packs of Kyiv
Where are the patriotic Ukrainian beavers in that picture?
Wolf-goat-cabbage problem. You gotta keep 'em separated.
You gotta keep 'em separated.
Thanks for the earworm
It’s rabbit-fox-cabbage here. All around the world things are different but still the same
"River crossing puzzle" is apparently the generic term.
And it's at least thirteen centuries old.
And it maps to the vertex cover problem, so it's NP-complete? Wow, okay. All around the world we're doing computer science by accident.
it's fox, goose and bag of grain over here
What do all the drawings represent?

I have no idea when the helmet-flork gained cat-ears though
Thank you for the sauce. Where raccoon, tho
The turtle is a refference to the trench turtle, who just kinda chilled out in a Ukrainian trench for a bit becoming a well known figure and meme in the Ukrainian telegram channels.
I assume the others are similar references, perhaps the cat ears have to do with the provenance of anime iconography used by the Ukrainians (cat-girl army) but I really couldn't speak to the rest
The shark is from the sinking of the Moscow I believe, implying sharks ate the sailors aboard.
What the flork do you mean?
"Oh, you have trained dolphins? That's cute."
If only there was a breed of dog that we could use to control the wolf population. Maybe something in the hound category, native to the country in need. Some sort of Russian wolf hound.
Beast of Gevaudan, please call your office.
I read this news a couple days ago, and was wondering how soon the wolf would get his cap! Very pleased.
