Maybe not the best person to answer this as, I didn't realize it was abuse until after their death but...
My mom was in a nursing home for several years before she died. All I really did was make sure her needs and my legal obligations as her caretaker were met. I visited in the beginning but, that became less and less. Ultimately COVID got her.
