Calling it French Fries in the Belgium community is quite the risk you're taking.

And mayonaise of course. Nothing beats mayonaise.

I like living dangerously!

Mayonnaise, only with stoofvlees

You're Dutch. So follow-up question: Which one?

Zoete Hollandse bucht of Echte goeie Belgische met ei?

[–] ruud@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Zoete Hollandse bucht!

Samurai sauce

[–] Mysteriarch 3 points 1 year ago

I have to admit I really like joppie sauce when I'm going for fries, but I regularly switch it up depending on what I'm looking for, so regular ketchup, samurai or andalouse all get their share.

Utah Fry Sauce

50% Ketchup

50% Mayo

. . . I'll show myself out...

I know this is for Belgians but Malt Vinegar simply cannot be beat

[–] antik@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Can you tell me where you are from so I know where to never ever ever go?

Nah to each his own I guess but that doesn't seem like something I would try.

[–] DV8@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I mean, look into the insane amount of sauces available. Even if you say it can't be beat you could try them all and discover things you can add to what you already like. Most Belgians don't just stick to one sauce.

The english way: Salt and vinegar.

[–] R05@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Mayonaise, nothing else than home made mayonaise

[–] herrwoland@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I tried tartar sauce last time and it's now my new favorite

[–] antik@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Sorry to that one guy who posted about using some kind of vinegar on his fries but lemmy.world had to roll back and we lost 30 minutes of comments/posts.

[–] Alenalda@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

This is the way

[–] NextWave@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

This is the way

Mayonnaise is the only acceptable answer. Everyone else is lying to themselves

If I had to rank them:

  1. Mayonaise

  2. Tomato ketchup

  3. Béarnaise sauce

  4. Tartar sauce (which is actually based on mayonaise)

...

  1. Everything else

Mayo for life!

[–] fievel@vlemmy.net 1 points 1 year ago

Andalouse of course

[–] KilroyIsHere@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

The most spicy available, usually samourai but my local friture has a lovely special spicy american sauce

[–] aeternum@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Tomato sauce or gtfo

[–] supermurs@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

Ketchup and mayo

[–] spunky@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

HP Sauce <3

[–] Grishaix@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

"Pommes Schranke", mayonnaise and ketchup.

Personally I would never mix sauces. IMO you have to make a choice ;-)

[–] antik@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That's a sad amount of sauce. I can still see fries :D

But you haven't tried "frit special" yet - Mayo/Ketchup/Onion?

[–] Grishaix@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The Onions: roasted or fresh?

[–] Mysteriarch 2 points 1 year ago

They should be fresh, although I've seen versions with roasted ones too.

[–] troplin@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

I love it.

Interestingly it tastes much better like this than a Single premixed sauce made from mayo and ketchup.

Honey Dijon

[–] korny@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

The best sauce is no sauce, I eat them all natural

[–] caos@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

😋 Mustard!! 💛 🍟 💛

Now that we upgraded to Lemmy 0.18.1 here at Lemmy World allow me: 🤢

That's for bratwurst and hotdogs.

[–] ThreeHalflings@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Is it what you get when you milk a samurai?

[–] antik@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's a spicy sauce. Mayonnaise-based but with chillies.

[–] ThreeHalflings@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Interesting, thanks.

Recently, I've discovered gravy and cheese curds, courtesy of our (USA) lovely northern neighbors. Seriously, poutine is fuckin' bangin'!

[–] antik@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

That looks greasy as hell. I would try it! I heard of Poutine before but I thought it was a combination of a russian dictator and a french prostitute
