Cologne Cathedral Christmas market.

Every time I open this sub I’m logged out of it again. Any ideas why that might happen? It’s only been a problem for the last couple of days.

There has been an upgrade which has caused some glitches, particularly around logging in. Although most people seem to have had trouble logging in in the first place. Maybe try logging out, clearing your cookies and logging in again? (make sure you know your password and can log in again first if you are relying on it being saved in the browser)

I had to update Jerboa too. And then log in again.

My husband who is a HUGE history buff walked in on my kid and myself watching Cunk on Earth. His puzzled look made me laugh. 😂

i like to think I'm a bit of a history nerd and I love cunk 😂💗😂

I’m unexpectedly a bit… sad/upset over such a couple of menial things, I’m sure it must be something else.

I’ve gotten to the point that I think retail is making me cry and I’m not even a retail worker. 🤣

I'm exhausted and need this holiday break.

Right now I'm tearing up over clips of Kamala Harris' tour in Africa.

The Adelaide community is pretty dead there, I wonder how often non-melbournians post here?

In other news, just did some shopping for the newest once removed cousins (thank you google, I could never understand family relationships), and I think purchasing those glow in the dark stars at Big W was a great idea. We'll see how it goes once I give it to their parents.

It's been a bit of a fruitful day today - summer fruits time has started in earnest, and the food cupboard was bountiful. I got 8 punnets of starting to go mouldy strawberries, and once I removed the dodgy pieces I have about 3 punnets worth of useable fruit (mostly cut up and in the freezer for a future jam). I've also got lots of bruised peaches & nectarines, along with a few apricots and plums (also in the freezer, after the bruised sections removed and the good bits cut up).

I also harvested the final cherries from my tree - they are cooking cherries, so not as sweet as good eating cherries. I have already bottled a few jars for the cupboard this year, so I'll freeze the rest for jam & to go in overnight oats and suchlike.

Been taking out my anger and stress and anxiety by gardening. I appear to have killed my whipper snipper. Burned out it’s motor in long grass I think. Fresh battery and nothing happens when I press the trigger.

A reminder Sasha is coming to town soon. Do not annoy Sasha.

Icelandic Yule cat will also be policing your wardrobe.

Too late to avoid Krampus.

Tired. Accidentally put carpet cleaner in the dish washer. I cleaned out as much as I could. 😬

Co-worker, sounding somewhat whimsical but defeated: “Spin, what am I doing?”

Me: “Dude, you’re talking to the girl who’s got her shoes off in your office, walking on bubble wrap. I’m not sure if I’m the person to ask.”

update: checked to see if it was still happening, copped a very snotty "He will be there in the latter half of the day and call when he's on his way"

Very nearly responded with "Look! a flying pig!"

*Mufasa Yawn* ok I'm up. Friggin smoke detector maintenance guy is coming "between 7:30am and 9:30am" so I - the idiot who hasn't learned after all these years - was up and showered before 7:30am knowing full well that he'll turn up at 9:28am.

Edit: 8:45! Took all of 2 minutes and he's gone.

His Lordship woke me up at 7am for the sparky to finish wiring the aircon.

The sparky has still not arrived.

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 5 points 10 months ago (4 children)

Sparky will arrive at 4.30pm. Then not have something he needs to finish the job. Sparky might return before Christmas.

I've just been to the dentist and had a filling done. My mouth is still numb, my smie lop-sided and my teeth feel like weird imposter teeth. I have a couple more fillings scheduled for next year, and a broken tooth that is being referred to a specialist for removal, so I'm sure that one's going to be great fun to have removed (and pricey as well, no doubt). Agh, teeth.

At least it is a lovely day & the walk there and back was really quite pleasant.

There's some youngsters singing karaoke (maybe in the park). I don't recognise the songs and they sound terrible and possibly drunk. I should get dressed and go over there and show them how it's done. That'll scare them home.

I don't know what Coles do to their Coles branded baked beans but I've been having the worst indigestion I've had in as long as I can remember. Will not be revisiting. Do not recommend. Not fun for the whole family. Two thumbs down.

Unpopular opinion. The people who decorate the entire outside of their house with Christmas lights freak me out a little.

I should clarify. The whole lot freaks me out. From the "we've been planning this since October", shopping for the lights, stapling of lights using a ladder, the electricity bill, torrential rain, animals pissing and shitting, the storage when not in use, I love Christmas so much and then covering every surface with flashing lights.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

My neighbours have a beautifully curated display, I get the impression that the lady pretty much has Christmas as a personality trait. A different themed tee every day of the week, antlers on the car, lights all perfectly placed. My boyfriend decided he wanted to do lights, but ours looks like we sort of threw them at the house and lit them where they landed. I like our method. But I also like seeing hers, just not sure I could do that level of planning.

Each to their own! But I like sparkly things!

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 10 months ago

This made me laugh.

[–] TinyBreak@aussie.zone 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I LOVE Christmas lights. Mine have been up since October. But there is deffo a line. I've got like, 4 sets up. But it barely overs 1/8th of my front yard. its just in some trees and along the roofline. But i totally agree there is such a thing as going too far. I don't like the inflatable things or the non-light decorations.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 10 months ago

I like the ones where someone has decorated their front yard tree. That looks pretty cool but the ones that have covered the whole house in flashing lights, unless it's sync to rock music, are just an eye sore.

I like the inflatables but if there's also lights and my neighbours left them on at night then I would be aiming darts at the giant jolly Santa.

It’s a nice day today. Already rolled out the deck chair to lay down for a bit but out of the sun.

Going to be really mindful as the I’ve heard this year it can take as little as 11 mins to get sunburnt without protection.

Thankfully right now I’m mostly under cover.

Going to get my peanut butter toast, a coffee and read some stuff on my phone I think while enjoying the cool breeze.

👨‍🍳 💋
