A nice place to discuss rumors, happenings, innovations, and challenges in the technology sphere. We also welcome discussions on the intersections of technology and society. If it’s technological news or discussion of technology, it probably belongs here.

In several tests, a professional test driver found that the software – released in June – failed to detect the child-sized figure at an average speed of 25mph and the car then hit the mannequin. The Dawn Project’s founder, Dan O’Dowd, called the results “deeply disturbing”.

evidently, tesla has decided the true utilitarian answer to the trolley problem in our world is "fuck them kids"

in all seriousness, tesla "autopilot" seems to have a shit ton of problems navigating basically any city which deviates from the norm it's trained on even slightly, so i'm not surprised this is a problem.

I still predict, self-driving will be pushed into series production. Even more, they will make the technology mandatory to use in every car in quite near future.

The shots are called by someone else. The moment self-driving cars reach the point of being less risky than human drivers on paper, no inusrance company will insure you.
