Oil & gas companies (in Aus anyways) have been lobbying governments to throw money at developing this technology. Pointing towards these sites as success stories.

While i can see the benefits of carbon capture, i reckon the millions could be much better spent on proven technologies to eliminate carbon generation in the first place.

Honest Government Ads had their own take on the “efficacy” of Carbon Capture & Storage

Don't get me wrong, buying time to stall ecological collapse is better than doing nothing, but it's so frustratingly backwards when it becomes the priority over addressing the issues that are causing that collapse in the first place.

CCS is literally like hiding things under the carpet. I see CCS as a bandage, not a real solution to the problem. While any action is better than nothing, focus should be that CCS wouldn't be needed at all.

CC is just a scam

Bright Young Things™️ come up with an idea for CC. Venture capitalists and governments throw money at them. They mess around for a bit and say "Sorry it doesn't work at scale" and bugger off with the money.

Venture capitalists don't care about losing the money. It's greenwashing for them. Governments don't care either as they can say "We can burn all the carbon we like as in the future CC will suck all the CO2 out of the atmosphere".

rinse and repeat, always repeat.
