My feeling is that Bernier's problem is he isn't really a true believer in all this, he's trying to ride a wave of populism into a position of power. But he isn't of these fringe right wing movements in the way CPC representatives from rural areas are starting to be. So they can steal his lane from him.
It's gross how antisemitic conspiracy theories are what gets votes for the Conservatives.
