Fairly new to #DwarfFortress. Picked it up with the Steam release but really amazed at the shear depth of, well, everything! It's a rare thing to see someone's OPUS get the rewards and accolades it deserves and it's really cool to see
Dwarf Fortress - Losing is !FUN!
A magazine to aggregate content about the Bay12Games game, Dwarf Fortress! Questions about the game, fortress showcase, sharing worldgen parameters, save games, original fan art, the magma-sea is the limit!
I played for the first time in 2008 as well! Played hard for the next 4 years of undergrad then laid it down for grad school, got back in for a couple of years in 2016-2017, then life got busy. I haven't bought the steam version yet, but when I saw it coming out last year it looking like the dwarf fortress i always wanted! Can't wait to start playing again!!!
I started playing around 2006. I dropped off sometime in 40d and came back to buy the steam release. I can't recommend it enough.
I have played 0 hours but I will follow this magazine because I do want to play someday lol. Love Rimworld and I know that was inspired by Dwarf Fortress so I'll probably hop on eventually.
@TabbyCat With the Steam version, it's never been easier to get started, since there's the improved official tileset, the MUCH improved UI, and I believe even starting tutorials (which I skipped because I've been playing FOREVER). If you can afford the coin, I'd say go for it! :)
I'll make sure to buy it sometime this year. Looks like a lot of fun, I just have other things to buy first.
If adventure mode is out for the steam version when you get around to it then that might be an ideal entry point
@nanoobot I'm excited to see adventure mode, hopefully it gets some performance gains. It's always fun to find your old forts in it.
