This is much like gambling: High expectations, but it always ends with disappointment. Welcome to Vegas!

What the hell is the point of this race. It is making me not want to watch the rest of the season. Everything is all clinched up anyway.

I live one time zone away from this track and I can't watch any of it because it is all past my bedtime.

It is a NASCAR race because the only reason to watch it is for the crashes.

[–] cybersandwich@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Yea, it's certainly not for the American market. No one in America will be awake to watch it.

It is going to be a fun race though since no one has an data on it. It's a blank slate.

I'll just watch it the day after and try not to have it spoiled.

I'm in New York and it's midnight. I'm 100% here for it.

[–] JJROKCZ@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It’s not midnight for you if you’re in New York lol, the race is at midnight my time and I’m CST, it will be starting at 1am your time

[–] ImpossibilityBox@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

It was midnight when I was posting the comment. Just like it's 2am now. I'll still be up at 1am for the race.

FP1 was at 5:30AM for us central euro people, not for us either

Yea, I’m only watching this race for the shitshow and to see Checo beat Max.

That would be pretty nice to see but even with his street skills I think Checo's smooth driving is going to keep him from keeping his tires hot. Max is going to be better at keeping heat in the tires.

I'm sure many people know of this, but if not– this is easily my favorite manhole cover story. Potentially the fastest man-made object with mass ever is a humble manhole cover. Also a potential wrecker of F1 cars!

The corners look to come straight from a cheap indoor karting track. They're there because they need to be and don't allow fun or interesting driving. Combined with the gaudy surroundings the commentators are being forced to say is spectacular this looks like such a dumb track. Isn't Vegas in the desert or something? They should have a built a new track outside of the city.

9 minutes..3 cars damaged by manhole cover issue? Wtf

[–] Hr24@aussie.zone 3 points 10 months ago

Which was the third? Sainz, Ocon and ?

[–] Hr24@aussie.zone 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Who's was the third? Sainz, Ocon and?

[–] Aarrodri@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Commentators said Zhou too

[–] Hr24@aussie.zone 5 points 10 months ago

Amazing. I was expecting a shit show, but this has exceeded those expectations.

[–] TastyWheat@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Well that was a fucking waste of everyone's time.

[–] davetapley@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

If you have F1TV you can eek out another five minutes of action watching Sainz' onboard, as his car is loaded on a flat bed.

[–] D2Rave@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago

Well... Looks like Max was right, all show, no racing.

[–] zav_@mastodon.social 4 points 10 months ago (4 children)
