I've had a couple cats live to 20+. It's not impossible they're still alive. If not dead, certainly on their deathbed though.

Cats originally started living with us because they hunted mice. Now that people have moved into cities and farmers have other options to get rid of pests, cats had to adapt and started doing this to not become useless.
