Whenever I visit lemmy, many of the posts are days old. Is that a lack of content being created by me and the other users, or... What? Thanks for any insight

The site defaults to sorting by active posts. There are options for hot, new, and top over the past day. I tend to sort by new.

I didn't see the other options, thanks. Now I'm on it!

I sort by new.

The algo that runs the frontpage is made for a much smaller community. The Lemmy-project is run by good coders without much foresight.

Have you tried sorting by hot?

Hot is somewhat stale at the moment. This is apparently due to the spike in users voting and the subsequent decrease in active users. So posts that garnered a high number of votes are pushing down other, newer posts making those older top posts somewhat sticky.

The recommended trick is to, for now, sort by "New" or "Top Day." Your mileage may vary, obv.

This what I found to be true as well. Sort by New is a more vibrant experience than sorting by Hot.

Hahaha, welp! Thank you, that seems have been my issue.
