Moths get such a bad wrap when they are prettier than butterflies. Butterflies got their big eyes and weird strap mouth and gangly legs. Meanwhile moths are fuzzy and soft.

We got an influx of moths in CO with all the rain we've gotten in the last month or so

One of my ecology professors back at uni used to propose a phylum called Cutezoa.

Cutezoa have the shared characteristic of being cute and therefore the public and media care about protecting them.

I'd love it if caring about moths led to caring about light pollution, too. Light pollution affects lots of animals. It isn't just about our night sky (which I also care about).
