There wasn't much in this showcase worth noting, but here were the notes I took:
Mortal Kombat 1 - Kameo fighters seem more like a gimmick than a fundamental gameplay change. The fights look mostly the same as they did in MK11. As for the story, how many times has MK rebooted its timeline at this point? I was definitely not sold, based on what they showed.
Dead By Daylight - Nicolas Cage is in it as... just Nicolas Cage. It won't get me to play Dead By Daylight but it was still more hype than most of the showcase was.
Spider-Man 2 - Release date confirmed as Oct. 20, 2023, map will include Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn, and Venom confirmed to be not Eddie Brock, but they won't say who. Even though the big reveal already happened in the PS Showcase, this was still one of the few highlights of the show.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth - I'm pretty sure this is the first time we've had a PS5 game that will require 2 discs. That's a huge amount of data. When this eventually gets ported to the PC, you will need a brand new 1 TB hard drive, just to put FF7 on it.
I guess the Final Fantasy size is not that surprising as blurays only go as big as like 50GB iirc? I don't really get why they don't just do what other games do and make you download the rest of the game.
The PS5 can run Bluerays of 100GB.
Looking forward to it! ๐
Hype \o/
Show me that Elden Ring DLC, Geoff.
o wait, is this the thing that is taking E3's place?
@testman
Yeah kind of. It's not really a centralized event, but just a general "Hey the industry will be doing announcements and showcases at around the same time." At least that's my understanding of how it works.
This livestream is sort of the kickoff.
Been pretty whelming so far. Haven't seen anything crazy or groundbreaking yet.
I love Final Fantasy VII, but I'm waiting until the entire remake is completed to dive in. (not sure I can play this game piecemeal) Anyone else in the same boat?
Really happy to see Witchfire finally making its way to a release! Some doubters are crying in the YouTube comments over the fact that it's Epic exclusive, but I suppose they just don't know it's most likely going to be early-access-exclusive for Epic, followed by a full release on Steam as well, as is the common practice today. Can't say I'm mad at all the Epic testers.
Alan Wake II looks real pretty, too. Remedy is just one of those companies that never disappointed me with their stuff. I just need to finally beat the first game become this one comes out.
