I'm just having a harder time putting up with all the "fanservice" sexualization of teenage girls.
Also I wish for more anime set in college or something instead of highschool. Ditto for Persona games.
Also... I'm tired of stories, anime or otherwise, where one person is the Most Important In the Group. The Hero. The Chosen One. Because god-forbid we acknowledge all endeavours are communal, nope, gotta put one person up on a pedastal in every show, and generally create a culture of constantly competing with each other because if you're not The Best or mega-exceptional compared to your peers you're nothing apparently.
It's just. It's everywhere. Even "I wanna be, the very best, like no one every waaaaas~”, you know.
Most recently, I was playing a darn farming life sim, and it STILL felt the need to put me on a pedastal for being The Best Community Member somehow. There was an in-game lantern releasing festival, and my character was praised then told to release their lantern first, floating up above everyone elses. That should've just been a nice moment of togetherness with the town, but no, gotta make sure you the player know you're The Best Person I guess.
I still enjoy a heck of a lot of stories like this, can't lie - I'm not immune to the power fantasy of it. But also I can't unsee it now that I've noticed how there's this underlying philosophy backed into all of it everywhere and kind of fucking everyone up probably. I still remember being in school and being surrounded by motivational posters about how everyone should be a leader and stand out from the crowd.
Also for similar reasons kinda tired of the longwinded " I'm winning through SHEER DETERMINATION" trope. Although that one also can be fun still sometimes.
