Attorneys who've been defending MyPillow chief executive and election denier Mike Lindell against defamation lawsuits by voting machine companies are seeking court permission to quit, saying he owes them unspecified millions of dollars and can't pay the millions more that he'll owe in legal expenses going forward.

It’s the latest in a string of legal and financial setbacks for Lindell, who propagates former President Donald Trump’s lies that the 2020 election was stolen from him, in part by rigged voting machine systems. Several big-box retailers, including Walmart, have discontinued his products.

“MyPillow's been decimated. ... We've lost hundreds of millions of dollars,” Lindell said, adding that the other main assets he has left are his home and pickup truck. He blamed Dominion, Smartmatic and the news media, including the conservative outlets Fox News and Newsmax.

Blame yourself, pal. I'm shocked that garbage pillow netted him hundreds of millions.

its a hundred bucks for a pillow full of memory foam bits. Its nuts!

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No, it’s memory foam bits.

[–] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Remember the sobakawa pillow? The one with the buckwheat husks!

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No but that sounds horrible.

What do you know anyway, Satan's Maggoty Cum Fart?

For your edification...

[–] Cube6392@beehaw.org 3 points 1 year ago

It's not even quality memory foam. There's a world in which shredded memory foam could be a good pillow, but the MyPillow isn't even that

[–] Illuminostro@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

He advertised to people who will literally buy anything, i.e. Limbaugh and Jones fans.

Good. /thread

Too bad he's not the "MyTent" guy, at least he would still have 1 home.
Go cry in your lumpy pillow you traitor!!!

[–] chimasterflex@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well I'm sure he's not actually fully out of money. But I would give quite a bit to see him resort to making a pillow fort to live in

[–] Teon@kbin.social 6 points 1 year ago

Considering what a coke head he is, he probably already tried.

I hate the guy, but c'mon. It's right there in the post excerpt.

[–] this_1_is_mine@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Per who. If he is saying that is all he has left. I call bullshit.

Someone needs to teach these people the difference between being an insufferable asshole and a victim.

They're not the same. FAFO.

1st it's Giuliani w/ money problems, now this guy. If 'actions had consequences' was this obvious, to everyone, all the time the world would be a much better place. Sadly, these are merely the exceptions.

[–] DreddNYC@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

And they all did this for Donald Trump, a man who couldn’t care less about either of them. May the ghost of Herman Cain haunt them for eternity.

If you can’t pay for a defense- you should get no defense. Welcome to the real world where the rest of us live, ASSHOLE.

[–] negativeyoda@lemmy.world 19 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He's welcome to an overworked public defender

[–] FirstCircle@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 year ago

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you get a public defender in a civil suit. From TFA it sounds like Pillow Crybaby isn't facing any criminal charges (yet).

[–] Fizz@lemmy.nz 12 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Still has his home and a car. Can't complain with that

[–] andrewta@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

With no money how long before he loses both? Property taxes come due each year and the car needs plates and insurance.

[–] altima_neo@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He can always work the drive through somewhere

[–] 1024_Kibibytes@lemm.ee 7 points 1 year ago

Or he could work at Walmart selling pillows

[–] FirstCircle@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Home and a pickup and an Audi something-or-other apparently. Also from the photo he likes to wear Xian bling ... that gold ring ought to be worth a couple thou-, maybe more if it was melted down and the curse was off. He's probably got drawers full of gaudy crap like the ring and the lapel pin, maybe Smartmatic and Dominion will settle for the jewelry and a few pillows?

[–] ironhydroxide@partizle.com 5 points 1 year ago

If you give them the pillows you'll have to give them more jewelry than if you didn't.

Nobody wants lumpy ass pillows

I really don't understand his endgame here.

[–] FirstCircle@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Me either, unless he's just trying to get into the news so fellow MAGA morons will see how completely fucked he is and will financially support him.

Ever the pitchman, Lindell, known as the MyPillow Guy, asked viewers of his webcast who wanted to help to call in and buy his pillows, towels and other products.

[–] wildcardology@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Lol, and still ended up without money

[–] Manifish_Destiny@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

More bath salts

[–] mindbleach@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

Crackheads being known for their long-term strategic thinking.

[–] ImFresh3x@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 year ago

I bet he’s not out of money, and is just preparing for the loss by trying to see he broke.
