Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Hey now.

Don’t do that. You could make a few bucks just by doing your hobby!

[–] meco03211@lemmy.world 22 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Seriously. Where the application? I could do with a few extra bucks calling a douche a douche.

Corporate needs you to fill out this form. iD-10-T, the hiring process begins after you drop 10x tweets at Geatz. Pay becomes ten cents a word, though the very best words get .50 cents.

Consider the first ten a practical interview.

After that happens, we’ll be in touch.

Never do something you are good at for free

There's plenty to attack you about Matt, no need for influencers

[–] mateomaui@reddthat.com 43 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Reading lately how apparently Matt “was lost” at Camp David and tried to get Hutchinson to “help him find” his cabin only to have McCarthy (who was talking to Hutchinson when Matt tried this) tell him to get a life and shut the door in his face really fleshes out the animosity between them in the most amusing possible way.

I was so disappointed when Gaetz (almost forgot to include the name, have to be specific when talking about Republicans) wasn't charged after all the venmo stuff came out. Like it seemed there was evidence that he should have at least been charged and had a trial. Unless I missed something else after that completely absolved him of ties with the sex trafficking guy who he was apparently buddy with.

[–] Ddubz@lemmy.world 26 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah that was obvious horseshit. The county employee he was in conspiracy with took the entire shaft for that. I'm curious as to what Gaetz promised that dude not to flip, because his corroboration was needed to bring the Venmo receipts and some of that other shit out of circumstantial and into real shit.

The issues are 3 fold:

-His co-conspirator had a habit of making up lies about his enemies. He had serious credibility issues.

-The 17 year old they both raped took a settlement and apparently refuses to testify againt him. I personally cant blame her for taking the money and running instead of becoming a target for her whole life, ala Lewinsky.

-The DOJ is outright chicken shit. The rumor is that they are afraid to take him to trial because of the above and because of his status as a congressman/ties to trump.

Qualified Immunity is the root issue since it extends to all government workers, the elected officials as well as the officers and adminstrators, and the weirdest thing is that QI is actually illegal under the original wording of statute 1983 of The Federal Code. It just got illegally modified in 1874 by an archivist, and no one noticed until recently. If you look up section 1983 in The Congressional Record of 1871 it has 16 words that weren't copied into The Federal Register in 1874. The modified law was what was presented to the 1982 SCOTUS in Harlow V Fitzgerald. They made a mistake, and even questioned why the 1871 Congress was so clear about everything except the clause that was removed illegally.

Gaetz accused McCarthy of hiring social media influencers to trash him online

The Messages people received:

(Hey {{FirstName}}, g | Howdy! G)ot an advocacy campaign with budget. Do you do paid posts? If so how do you work? By the way, the issue is against Gaetz and government shut down. Let me know asap!

So it's a paid campaign that's cold calling. Which sounds amateur at best. Most high ranking political folks have campaign lists that have tight contacts that step in line. The cold calling and the automation having few {{FirstName}} values really indicates to me this is someone who hasn't ever done this before or someone scripting out the messages perhaps via Selenium API.

Either way, no way this was from Kevin McCarthy reasonably. The Speaker has way better methods than just going virtually door to door and asking folks.

Gaetz is too delusional to grasp that plenty of people hate him enough to trash him without a check from McCarthy

Bingo. This is very likely the answer and now that it is a story, it at least got the person who was running it attention and verification of which parts of their scheme worked. Sowing discord is a thing and I doubt person messaging had money so likely was to get some whispers out there.

And they say there's no reason to monitor web traffic for elections. HA! But, I mean I'd expect nothing less from Gaetz to blindly accept anything being feed to him. One time he entered into the record Chinese propaganda without vetting it. And was summarily called out on it. Dude is soft clay and various other nations manipulate him like he's their plaything.

when you join the party of lying about your enemies and are surprised when your enemies in the party lie about you

[–] mateomaui@reddthat.com 7 points 1 year ago

or, maybe, even tell the truth about you.

[–] bestnerd@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Doesn’t he still have pending sexual assault cases

[–] mateomaui@reddthat.com 6 points 1 year ago

unfortunately, even though the guy associated with him went with a guilty plea, I think it was all dropped against Gaetz

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-64644518

but if anyone has info contrary to that, please share

[–] 2piradians@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago

Maybe he has buyer's remorse for the shutdown, finally realizing that his group of shitheads will be blamed. Good faith compromise is always off the table for Gaetz, so he hatches a sob story and blames McCarthy.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 year ago (3 children)

"scumbag" and "shut the fuck up" were also heard from other members of the group

[–] Unaware7013@kbin.social 16 points 1 year ago

I also appreciated the 'I dont think enough of you to spend money against you' comment, as Gaetz must be mental to think that people would have to be paid to hate his dumb ass.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

People should know you're getting that from the article, because it's damn funny that it's true.

[–] synae@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 1 year ago

Oh they could have been talking to anybody

Where are all these fucking leopards coming from???

[–] Pratai@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 year ago

Always good to see their paranoia being turned on themselves.

[–] NYPariah@reddthat.com 8 points 1 year ago

Dickbags, they're all dickbags.

[–] cricket97@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

I mean it honestly is pretty likely that all these politicians are hiring people to attack their enemies. This is a pretty well known thing but people pretend like it doesn't happen when it's their side. There's a whole industry around it called opposition research. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negative_campaigning

[–] Treczoks@kbin.social 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Just hand them some boxing gloves and dish out the popcorn!

[–] mateomaui@reddthat.com 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

all out of gloves, are brass knuckles ok?

[–] Treczoks@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

No objection form me in this case, although this would probably mean that the fight would be over before I am done with the popcorn.

[–] reverendsteveii@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago
