You can ~~blame~~ thank @nieceandtows@programming.dev for suggesting this community and @Skoobie@lemmy.film for his seconding the motion (I'm fingering everybody!).

But since you're here anyway, might as well yell Trick or Treat! For all of you wannabe Tom Savinis and Rick Bakers, the King will point you to your Halloween goody: the Famous Monsters Of Filmland Monster Do-It-Yourself Make-Up Handbook by Dick Smith, courtesy of the schizophrenic-as-of-late Internet Archive.

So I'll leave you all to it…whatever you sick people do all alone in the dark. The Evil Dead? Carrie? I Know What You Did Last Summer? Profondo rosso? The Saw saga? Filipino zombie movies? Have at it! Just don't expect me to change your sheets after watching such trash!

In my opinion it is far to early to split communities in to specific sub-topics as there isn't enough of an audience to go around.

I agree, or maybe just split TV shows and movies. Subgenres seems to early indeed

Maybe do a series of horror movie watch parties for October instead?

But battling the small community issue in printSF and Detroit Lions. Makes me miss Reddit.

Anyone else listen to Fright Pub, the horror movies podcast? I've never been a huge horror guy, but listening to those three get sloppy and occasionally hysterical every week over a randomly chosen movie has turned me into a fan of the genre.

Thanks for the tip, Flip!

Super excited for this. The existing community over at !horror@lemmy.ml has a pretty different vibe that something like /r/horror. I suspect this will be a lot closer to what I'm looking for.

Super excited for this.

I've got the cold sweats about it.

!horror@lemmy.ml at a quick glance seems more of general horror community covering not only movies. I've never visited r/horror. Care to describe the vibe to the tribe…uh…darn, can't think of a name that rhymes with describe/vibe/tribe!

And please, post away anything you feel might belong here…you're one of us, one of us, one of us, one of us…
