About

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis aspires to be the same kind of Autocrat despised by the founders of the United States. He must be exposed for what he is: a great threat to our Democratic Republic and American values. Republicans don't punish big businesses like the Walt Disney Company for disagreeing with them. Fascists do. DeSantis and those like him are a massive threat to our Democracy.

He laughed at prisoners in Gitmo being force fed. What else should we expect?

Ron DeSantis has that creepy Homelander smile.

The guy worked at Guantanamo. What did anyone expect?

[–] paraphrand@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hmm, Luis Elizondo did too.

Can we really make such broad connections?

No idea who that is, but DeSantis has been accused by former detainees as participating in their torture at the camp. Most others can’t say that, not that I respect anyone who worked there.

It’s not clear how DeSantis plans to identify these supposed cartel members before executing them. He tried to clarify the plan a bit during a Tuesday night interview with CBS, saying, “There’s not going to be authorization to just shoot somebody like that, but when somebody’s got a backpack on and they’re breaking through the wall, you know, that’s hostile intent and you have every right to take action under those circumstances.”

He said that only people who “appeared” to be members of drug cartels would be targets of deadly force. But he offered no details on what makes someone “appear” to be a cartel member.

Because backpacks could only be used for transporting drugs. Standard Republican practice to write a vague law and let the police enforce it selectively.

Just like the Nazis in Ukraine, every Mexican is a cartel member.

Anyone with a brain should be able to see through this.

There is not enough brain in the mass of REP disciples for that.

Georgia, Alabama, or both?

"...and make sure you plant some fentanyl in that baby too! Clearly a drug mule!"

Nah, I'm sure this'll go totally fine and will in no way be abused by anyone!

This guy needs to be locked up. Violence is a terrible solution.

Don’t let Navy guys close to guns, they always shoot themselves.
