[@ErikvanHaren] Max Verstappen responds to Lewis Hamilton's statements about teammates: "Maybe Lewis is a little jealous of my current success. I think it's hard for Mercedes to deal with a loss after all these years of winning so much."

I think Lewis is just stating fact, maybe unnecessarily

Max's best teammates have been Danny Ric, Perez and Carlos Sainz

Lewis' best were Rosberg, Alonso and Button

Is anyone really thinking that Danny, Checo or Carlos are better drivers than those 3 world champs?

I don’t think the comments from toto and lewis are meant to be a factual statements for posterity.

It’s childish jabs at Red Bull and Max.

If there are any fans of mercedes and/or lewis reading this, this is why so many despise that team and driver. The whining, the misrepresentation, the inability to let another team or driver be a success and let them have their glory. That particular corner of F1 is a toilet which overflows at times. Such a sad spectacle they make of themselves.

Lol, all teams moan when there's a dominant team, that's F1.

As if RB or any other team didn't moan 2014-2020

Fans that despise another team are obviously newbies, this isn't football, it's F1. It's okay to be an F1 fan, and support the racing, they put their lives on the line for our entertainment. Seems a little churlish to get upset.

I agree, all teams moan when there is a dominant team. Right now just anout all teams bemoan the dominance of RB, completely understand.

The comments from toto and lewis are not moaning though. Those are child like jabs to diminish what another team has achieved. It goes from ‘christ, can we have another winner for once?’ to ‘the achievements of team XYZ are unimpressive and quite possibly questionable’

But if you cannot see the difference between these then…lol away my dear F1 fan.

Lol, they are jabs. You said it yourself.

Max responded, jab landed.

I see no difference to any other jabs, maybe it's you that can't see the difference my dear

[–] reddwarf@feddit.nl -2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Fine, like I said, not going to change your particular mind, makes no sense to me. You do you.

my dear And that's where you went a bit weird tbh. I am not your 'dear'. Find someone that likes or loves you and call them 'my dear'. But perhaps this is why you cannot see the difference in statements? But again, no need to respond, you do you.

My dear F1 fan

I suspected you were being a condescending prick so responded accordingly.

If not, my apologies

Otherwise, jog on

Do you mean like the shit stirring master Christian Horner, who told in drive to survive ice cold that “it’s only funny when Toto gets riled up”? Because compared to that Mercedes is absolutely down right civil.

Sure it sounds a bit moany, doesn’t mean he isn’t right after ha ing paired with 3 world champions. Not to mention to have his 8th world title to be stolen (not just by the bullshit call in the last 3 laps of the last race) but also by max just crashing him out when max couldn’t compete.

Helmut Marko also just say what’s on his mind, do you see that as childish jabs as well?

Maybe try not to take the little jabs from millionaire drivers amongst each other as personal insult and just enjoy the sport.

[–] reddwarf@feddit.nl 1 points 1 year ago

Well, you sound very bitter. Not going to argue with you as you make some weird claims and statements and I will not validate your delusional ideas in any way.

Have a nice evening!

Was Lewis statement due to a question by a "journalist" or did it come unprompted? It felt super weird. The response is not much but feels like an answer to a question.

Telegraaf article is behind a paywall

[–] EyesEyesBaby@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Here's a Dutch non-paywall article: Verstappen kan niets met woorden Hamilton: 'Misschien is hij een beetje jaloers' https://www.nu.nl/formule-1/6279250/verstappen-kan-niets-met-woorden-hamilton-misschien-is-hij-een-beetje-jaloers.html

[–] timespace@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Thanks, brb going to learn Dutch

[–] mayonaise_met@feddit.nl 1 points 1 year ago

Then the Telegraaf article would have been no use to you.

[–] Redredme@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I know. Just learn the language. It's easier. Google translate is too hard to master.

[–] timespace@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

Oh don’t get your sand in your ass, it was a joke.

[–] wes@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I am not linking to the Telegraaf article.

Edit: to clarify, there is a link to Telegraaf in the X post of Erik van Haren but it’s about the response Max gave to the comment by Hamilton yesterday which can be read in the X post.

[–] pizzaschaartje@feddit.nl 1 points 1 year ago

Yes that makes sense, but I wanted some context to the reason of his comment. Although I could have looked myself as well, my bad :)

Can we please put someone other than Perez in a Red Bull car? I feel like Max is on this pedestal being compared to everything else but it's mostly the car and Perez just sucks.

I'm not saying Max isn't great just that comparing him to Perez may not be the best measurement.

[–] jimbolauski@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Perez is on the same level talent wise as Stroll who is being dominated in a similar fashion by Alonso.

[–] Redredme@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

I felt the same way the previous 8 years. But Lewis stayed.

[–] koolkiwi@lemmy.world -3 points 1 year ago

I don't think there's a single driver on the grid that could challenge Max even in the same car at the moment. Not Lewis, not Nando, not Chuck, not Lando. He's simply in another league.
