Internal Dutch contradictions, nothing new to see here. They will fold to the US (or be undermined) as usual. While they tend to have logic, they rarely have the stones to stand up for something unpopular. As the Dutch saying goes "steek je kop niet boven het maaiveld uit" - Don't stick you head above the ground. Someone will get to the minister and this will go away. Unfortunately.

What do they exactly hope for? How that's not undermining relationship with Beijing?

Yeah, it's just amazing lack of awareness there. I also love how there's far more tangible evidence in places like Canada where we're finding mass graves with thousands of kids every other month. I mean when are the Dutch gonna declare genocide of the indigenous population in Canada. Most indigenous people here have been exterminated, and most of those who remain can't speak their own language. Yet, we don't hear a peep from any western nation about that. Instead, they're looking for a mythical genocide in China based on reports from a right wing religious fanatic on a mission from god to destroy communism.
