I am quite dubious that they actually produced a solar cell. Typically the good single crystal silicon ones get 0.5 V not 5 V. The physics here don't make sense. These are really things that are better left to mass production.

well mass production certainly is a great deal more energy efficient than individual production. But it is always useful for the magic of how things could be made to be revealed.
