A court on Thursday convicted of aggravated rape a French man for orchestrating the mass rapes of his now former wife Gisele Pelicot by dozens of strangers who he recruited online.

Dominique Pelicot, who had already confessed to the crimes, was found guilty by the court in the southern city of Avignon after an over three month trial that shocked France and turned his former wife Gisele Pelicot into a feminist hero. He faces the maximum term of 20 years in jail when the judge later announces sentencing.

I suppose any amount of time is essentially life for this old fuck but it feels like repeatedly organizing gang rapes of a woman you drugged should have a higher maximum than 20 years.

I also wonder if there will be charges against the scores of other rapists all of which were fully knowledgeable of the lack of consent.

They were all found guilty, but with lighter sentences than what was requested. The longer being 15 years and 6 at least won't have jail time.

A maximum of twenty years for creating hell on Earth. Absolutely not fair.
