My little nuc server. Had to change some bios configs today so I busted out the old LCD and since it was there already, did a package update for the hell of it.

Please for the love of mike, update your servers frequently!!

I login to all my servers weekly for updates, both OS and software

I just have automatic updates turned on.

Yeah, there's always the risk of a bad update wrecking everything, but I figure that it's going to happen when I apply the update manually anyway.

I generally do this over ssh every week, today was special. Indeed, update always!

Unattended updates are pretty easy to setup in ubuntu, even without configuration management.

Intel NUC Servers FTW! 🤘

Mine sits on top of my desktop PC so I can jump into it directly if I ever need to. This reminds me I should go update stuff on there today. (Thanks!)

Please don't jump into your server. It will be crushed. Just use SSH.

Hey just passing to say I saw your post and decided to update my Debian server ...took me an hour to find that the rtl driver just stopped working and I had to revert to older kernel..never done it before haha..

I did a routine upgrade on my mbin server, where I had an old version with changes I made myself.

Well turns out I upgraded something (probably redis) that broke symfony that broke everything.

So I had a fun afternoon upgrading to the latest mbin version. I mean I needed to anyway but my hand was forced.

Yep sometimes an innocent looking update will change your weekend plans.

Anyways, any reason not to use ssh?
