"At the same time, the man who would head America’s gigantic military has tied US foreign policy almost entirely to the priority of Israel, a country of which he says: “If you love America, you should love Israel.”

Elsewhere, Hegseth appears to argue that the US military should ignore the Geneva conventions and any international laws governing the conduct of war, and instead “unleash them” to become a “ruthless”, "

Fuuuuckin hell!

Indeed and the mofo would start WW III by invading Iran.

Fuck the voices in here lamenting democrats. This is 100% republican evil. 100% republican fault. 100% who they are. Blame them entirely. They have the reigns of power so blame them for what they do with it. When they take over next year, never let up on them. They never let up on the left, so nail them to the fucking wall for every terrible move they make. Don't let any fraud dissuade from the fact that this is the republican party and the blame lies entirely at their feet.

Sorry, but I believe that the people who didn't vote against Trump and the Republicans share some of the blame.

I obviously primarily blame the people who voted for Trump, but even if you don't think there were good reasons to vote FOR Harris (I disagree), it doesn't take much brainpower to recognize that there were a hell of a lot of reasons to vote AGAINST Trump. Those of us who saw 2024 as the moment where not voting or voting stupidly were viable ideas fucked up big time, and now we all are going to suffer the consequences for at least 4 years.

Are we really supposed to pretend to be constantly surprised and outraged over every shithead he appoints and every shitty thing they do? Who has the free time for that? I wasted enough days of my life following and debating every twist and turn of The Trump Show, and all of it was for nothing because a mere 4 years after January 6th 2021 Trump is going to be sworn into office once again as a more unhinged and unmitigated version of himself. Even engaging in this discussion now is a waste of all of our fucking time.

All because 2/3 of this country were too fucking stupid to see that he is a toxic, fascist authoritarian bitch moron. I blame everyone who didn't vote for Harris (like her or hate her) for what is going to transpire over the next 4 years, and I don't care if that hurts their feelings.

Oh I agree. Republicans are the originators of all this shit. They are the cause for so much ill effects.

But Democrats are supposed to be that counterbalance in a duopoly. They haven't lived up to that. They'd rather chase after evil instead of standing up for something good.

I'm not sure what's worse. To use a historical example: are the Nazis worse, or are those who didn't speak up and fight back when they could have?

[–] ReCursing@lemmings.world 13 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

The Nazis are worse. If you analogy the Nazis are very clearly worse. It's not even close. Yes those who didn't speak up should have if it was safe (or at least not too dangerous) for them to do so, but the Nazis are worse. By, like, a mile.

If you love America, you should love NATO and be using Ukraine to make sure Russia never has power again. If you really want to game geopolitics you convince Ukraine to capture parts of Russia and you help them out. Israel was important for our God the Petro Dollar, but eventually you can't convince everyone that the kid going around stabbing everyone else is in fact not doing that.

[–] LordBelphegor@lemm.ee 73 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

i think the US is already ignoring the Geneva convention.

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 19 points 3 weeks ago

We've said we'll attack of they ever try to prosecute.

Live long enough to become the villain.

[–] olafurp@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

They never completely got rid of their imperialist tendencies. In 50 years we'll find out what the CIA is going today to destabilise governments.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 50 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I've said it before, I'll say it again - not a single redeeming quality in any of Trump's picks.

[–] EleventhHour@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago

It’s like being at the circus and watching a clown car pull up and having to witness all of the horrible people piling out of it.

[–] Akasazh@feddit.nl 7 points 3 weeks ago

No one should be surprised about that

Does the racist Hesgeth fully understand that the Christians are slowly being squeezed out of Israel too? He should replace his Jerusalem Cross crap with the Star of David.

[–] affiliate@lemmy.world 15 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

hesgeth wouldn’t know what a christian was even if he met christ himself

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 6 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

I'm willing to bet Christ would refuse to acknowledge knowing hesgeth either, based on Matthew 7:22.

[–] maplebar@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Society would be better off without all of these bullshit religions and the delusion non-thinkers who blindly choose follow them.

You want your country to use WWI tactics and leave soldiers behind? This dude is your guy because no competent general will follow his orders. You will see a massive exodus of the top brass and we will be left with the incompetent assholes.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 17 points 3 weeks ago

I would wager that much of the top brass would stick around just to cause as many legal problems as they can. We're kinda stubborn that way, though I only made it to mid-brass.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 21 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I know pre-trying people for crimes they haven't committed yet is generally a bad thing, but could the ICC make an exception in this case?

Unfortunately the US has a standing legal obligation to invade the Hague in this case cause the 9/11 era Congress had brain worms.

Ya im sure he'd love it if other nations ignored trade deals with America in response? These people don't know how anything works. Leaving nato and the UN would be catastrophic for our economy.

[–] frezik@midwest.social 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

We can ignore the Geneva Conventions starting with Pete Hegseth.

[–] FelixCress@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago

Geneva Conventions apply to humans...

[–] Mammothmothman@lemmy.ca 7 points 3 weeks ago

Welcome to the dark ages.

[–] Crankenstein@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago (8 children)

Cool. I don't love America. I fucking despise this country and everything it stands for. Israel can fall with it, never should have existed in the first place.

The world would be leagues better for it.
