Seems weird to see Jane Goodall referred to as “conservation expert” in the headline

from my perspective, because it's jane fucking goodall, possibly the most famous conservation expert there is

Yeah, it’s exactly this. It felt reductive to me as if she wasn’t a notable individual just a generic job title, when she’s contributed more to conservation and zoology than most living individuals.

Oh so it's weird because they're using a descriptor instead of her name?

Well, looking at the world in general I don't blame them for assuming ignorance from people. I

that's where i'm at, too. assume everyone knows nothing, since the world over populaces have demonstrated a lack of knowledge

Maybe stop warning and shouting at us poor people who can't do shit about it and go after billionaires. Every bit of conservation I've done in my entire life is undone in a day by a billionaire who wants to take a day trip. All these scientists and articles just yell into the void. I refuse to take equal blame for this mess and frankly I'm sick of it being directed at me. Environmental protesters should be camped out at Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos lawns by the thousands, trashing the place

"If you really lived during the Cretaceous Period, you’d be fortunate. The period we live in now is far more frightening. Right now, species on Earth are going extinct far faster than during the late Cretaceous. Now is truly the age of mass extinctions! So, my child, what you’re seeing is nothing. This is only an insignificant episode in a much vaster process." - The Three Body Problem

We are in the middle of an apocalypse, so probably not.

TBF the sixth mass extinction began 50,000 years ago... We have never been sustainable, from the very start of our species. Let's make our best to change that though.

Obviously conservatives will naturally listen to this, deferring to her expertise.
