So does anyone else gamify heating their houses in winter? Like I try to keep the furnace from turning on by cooking and running washing machines and such. Get myself sick of baking so I don't in the middle of summer.

Absolutely. My spouse looks at me like I'm crazy for putting black blankets on the floor in front of all the south-facing windows, but it's a noticeable difference in those rooms. I also keep the leftover pasta and kettle water out until it's cooled down instead of dumping hot water down the drain. Helps to avoid running the humidifier too.

I actually get happy during this season. I can't stand weather higher than 73F. I start to sweat like nobodies business and who doesn't like the rain?

Also you can actually see the stars and can hold a regular sleep schedule unlike in summer where it never actually gets beyond twilight

It just finally cooled off where I live. I can spend more than 15 minutes outside without sweating.

I'm so happy. I call it Reverse Seasonal Affective Disorder. The first day around May that it hits 90⁰ outside I'm depressed until late October.

is it still seasonal depression if it happens every season

[–] some_random_nick@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Yes, because if it didn't happen in the season, it would make it an out-of-season depression.

man its gonna be really rough for allot of people, especially with the election :c hopefully we all survive through the winter

[–] Mothra@mander.xyz 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Wait why is this season's depression more remarkable than the other seasonal depressions? I mean I've been on a roll from season to season depression and can't say there is a better or worse

Lack of sunshine, rainy cold weather

[–] SeekPie@lemm.ee 4 points 2 days ago

Don't worry. The best season (winter) is about to start.

it’s not too late to get a sad lamp. they really help me out when the sun starts to set at 4.

[–] allywilson@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 days ago

I bought one this year. Been using it a week, hope it helps later on!

[–] sangriaferret@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 days ago

Aw fuck. I was just starting to get regular depressed again and then you go and remind me that there's also a whole other kind of depression on its way. Depressing.

[–] AnnaFrankfurter@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 days ago

Seasonal you mean weekly right?

I don't get seasonal depression, I'm always depressed :c

This use of AI to generate a meme is worth the tree-and-a-half it cost the world. May it persevere.

[–] ComfyMuffin@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Are you a part of the "we can always tell crowd"? I made this bad boy using the shitty stick image editor on my phone lol

[–] Melatonin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Nah it just looked AI. Good job if you made it, it's cool.

[–] adhocfungus@midwest.social 2 points 1 day ago

Maybe they've never seen the original? It is a bit deep fried here, but that would still make me feel old.

This meme predates AI bro
