I don't think you understand what the vice president does.

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 62 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Right. Even if she were President, there isn’t a single change that she could make that couldn’t be immediately undone by Trump and a Republican Congress in January.

Try un-eating a cake, or undoing corporal punishment. My point is, not all things are reversible.

Now I imagined Harris spanking Trump while stuffing her face with cake, so thanks for the visual I guess.

Biden could pardon prisoners or charged individuals without Trump’s say. He could also provide additional funding to Ukraine and Taiwan. I can’t think of any other action by a Presidential Executive Order or Congressional legislation that can’t be changed by another President or Congress.

Military actions, release of information, establishing precedent of executive power etc.

These are just some categories, there are many fundamentally irreversible actions.

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Release of information is a good one that I missed.

Military actions are immediately reversible by the Commander-In-Chief, and the President doesn’t define or control the executive power held by the office. That’s determined by SCOTUS’s interpretation of the Constitution.

[–] kopasz7@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Do we have the tech to revive people or unbomb something? I believe military actions are very hard to reverse if we are talking beyond the administrative.

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I misunderstood. I thought you meant munitions support or troop deployment.

[–] simplejack@lemmy.world 42 points 1 week ago

Or how Congress works.

[–] Ioughttamow@fedia.io 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Well, she makes it ok to elect a child rapist. Oh wait, my mistake, that was the electorate. Yes the electorate, everyone who didn’t vote for Kamala, just rewarded a child rapist.

She's the Vice President, not the President. Nor is the House, where bills start, have a Democrat majority.

Biden, on the other hand, could shoot the Supreme Court justices and it would be perfectly legal.

[–] Frog@lemmy.ca 22 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Keep shooting until he appoints justices that find him innocent.

[–] dariusj18@lemmy.world 24 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Keep shooting until the justices find him guilty

Fuck it. Just keep shooting. Just appointing SCJ's en masse one after another, cheyney, bush, fuck it Trump why not, get Gingrich and O'Reilly, just running down the list. A terrifying image of a line of black robed hooded politicos being shuffled down an excrement strewn hallway by secret service agents. hearing each other take their oaths in front of dark Brandon in a marble throne. Spitting and sputtering their pathetic last words. A millisecond accurate timer counts down 70 days behind him as he eats vanilla ice cream cones in sunglasses. Kamala sits by his side with a hairless cat in her lap. The footage is broadcasted internationally via a single gopro mounted to a gold plated AR-15 with an anime girl front ironsight.

This is the way.

[–] todd_bonzalez@lemm.ee 13 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Honestly, he should just go for it. He's not got that many years left anyway, and he would eventually be known as a hero.

[–] rickyrigatoni@lemm.ee 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What do you mean not many years left? The supreme court gave him presidential immunity to do it.

[–] todd_bonzalez@lemm.ee 2 points 1 week ago

He's old. He could go out with a bang.

[–] Kalkaline@leminal.space 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's only legal according to the Supreme Court for Trump.

[–] AngryRobot@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

They csnt pass judgmental if they're dead.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Biden, on the other hand, could shoot the Supreme Court justices and it would be perfectly legal.

Unfortunately, even if he wasn't spineless, that wouldn't do us much good considering the incoming president.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago

Well frankly I think the Heritage Foundation represents a clear and present threat to the United States security so you know that might actually help a lot

[–] disguy_ovahea@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

That won’t matter either. With a fully Republican controlled Congress, I’m absolutely expecting them to expand and pack the Supreme Court this term.

[–] Telodzrum@lemmy.world 21 points 1 week ago

This meme speaks to a level of civic education from which we can draw a direct line to electing authoritarians like Trump.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 week ago

Please tell me who writes laws in the United States. I’ll wait.
