This is huge. Valve have never distributed their stuff down here, so hopefully we might see the Index at some point too.

EB games is an official distributor for the index. Not sure if they're in stock.

Is there a reason for that? Or they just hate the place?

Likely shipping cost but I'm not sure

Plus like 50% tax right? Isn’t that how Australia works?

VAT in Australia is 10% (ref), but there are other things that effect the overall price (company's obligation, regulations etc.)

The joke is we usually get outrageous markups on tech as we don't have alternative avenues to source. We usually get gouged hard - I.e. the grey import steam decks have been often $300 more than what steam are launching at.

For reference, the 1TB Steamdeck OLED at Gamesmen is $450 AUD more than what Valve will be selling it at. Unless I’m mistaken, Gamesmen are the only retailer selling the Steamdeck online that isn’t a marketplace (such as Big W), so Gamesmen is probably the best place to but at the moment since they will be forced to take on any warranty claims unlike resellers on marketplaces which may able to just dodge that by closing up shop.

Oh boy I can't wait for it come to Brazil! Surely will happen before I die!

Just keep in mind that if you're sensitive to PWM then you won't be playing the OLED as a handheld : (

Still works fine when attached to a tv, it's just not a handheld/portable anymore.

I should note that I love my deck, I'm just very sad that I can't play it as a portable.
