A long-shot congressional challenger in Virginia is so determined to debate the Democratic incumbent one more time that he created an AI chatbot to stand in for the candidate in case he's a no-show.

That plays in very nicely with the zeitgeist of politics as sports teams. Why bother doing actual debates when you can just punch an effigy of your opponent and give everyone the dopamine hit they're looking for. Hopefully this doesn't become commonplace.
