Spoiler: she won't. Werhmacht Walz already expressed support for "Greater Israel," ie accelerated and expanded settler-colonialism and genocide.

Harris supports Israel because the US Empire needs it. It serves as a rabid dog for the US to terrorize the Middle East, securing the Petro-Dollar by which the US maintains monopoly over global Financial Capital, and Imperialism in the Global South.

She will not change, it isn't a moral issue but an economic one.

Holy shit where?

Oh. I don't think he meant physical expansion of the country's borders, but you never know with these people.

This is in the context of Israel trying to annex parts of Lebanon, Israeli real estate is already frothing at the mouths looking for apartments to rent. If it isn't intentional, it's extremely ignorant.

In that case holy shit what the fuck? Like did he seriously have to say that in this political climate? Why is nobody talking about this?

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Many Leftists are talking about this, the problem is that Liberals are weathervanes, they attack the fascists when the fascists are in charge and attack the leftists when the Liberals are in charge.

the problem is that Liberals are weathervanes

In every American community, you have varying shades of political opinion. One of the shadiest of these is the liberals. An outspoken group on many subjects. Ten degrees to the left of center in good times, ten degrees to the right of center if it affects them personally

When you're talking about the loss of American Citizens, sometimes you've got to pander to the American people.

The number of Zionists who don't want to expand is quite few. If you're a Zionist, then you're a colonialist by definition.

Colonialists gonna colonize.

[–] delirious_owl@discuss.online 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Zionist. They're both Zionists.

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 6 points 2 weeks ago

Absolutely.

She's not a progressive tho. Why would you expect her to gave progressive policies?

I watched it. It was clearly a mistake he meant to say Iran. Even Vance was confused by what he said. Who are Israel’s proxies? “Iran and its proxies” is a very common line used to describe the various organisations with links to and support from Iran and Waltz was nervous at the start of the debate and stumbling his lines.

But the expansion of Israel and its proxies is an absolute, fundamental necessity for the United States to have the steady leadership there

This have absolutely zero sense if he wanted to say "Iran". Expansion of Iran would be absolute fundamental necessity for the United States??? In all other times when he speaks about Iran he's total hawk and sometimes even already speaks like there is open war between US and Iran.

Expansion of Iran is a fundamental necessity for the United States to deal with

It's not what he said, he said:

But the expansion of Israel and its proxies is an absolute, fundamental necessity for the United States to have the steady leadership there.

Even assuming it really was brainfart, dude who make multiple such brainfarts in a single sentence, entirely changing the meaning of his speech shouldn't be even village post worker, not to mention Vice President of USA.

And considering what he said exactly fits and is consistent with both US decalrations and actions, this wasn't a brainfart, it was something much worse for them: a moment of sincerity.
