Fediverse vs Disinformation

418 readers
23 users here now

Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.

Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.

What's the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.

By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.

People need to be hitting Trump so fucking hard on this. He repeats some complete bullshit fabrication that he saw once on Truth Social, his looney tunes go psycho, and there are real life consequences on real people, every goddamn time.

It's really interesting how this thing of immigrants eat pets is a classic accusation that has no border. In Switzerland, the Italian community was victims of it. Probably other too.

People have been eating what they could find when in very difficult situations. I'm sure people in Italy did during the war. I'm sure Americans would too, if they wefe faced with very difficult time like the people of Haiti.

But saying people do it in the US is lunacy and it's absolutely made to dehumanising immigrants. A classic tactic probably as old as time. Discriminating people based on what they eat (or don't eat).

But also a good thing we don't give a fuck about those racist shits, because we wouldn't have pizza if we would listen to their nonsense.

I wish the people of Springfield to have great haitian restaurant in the future!
