/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Hating someone off of their race, culture, creed, sexuality, or identity is not remotely acceptable. Mistakes can happen but do your best to respect others.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon' and fuck over our artist friends.

Fun will now commence.

This is what I mean. There’s humor and then there’s actual cruelty.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 18 points 2 weeks ago

That's true. Can you imagine the cruelty of being married to Keiko? I'd take the 30 year mental prison break no question.

Get ready for a lot of strips with this theme.

[–] VerticaGG@lemmy.blahaj.zone 18 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah honestly like idk couple dozen strips in it just totally beat the joke to death. Swing and a miss.

These would be funnier if they were actually comments on things that happened in the show. Or at least made sense.

Like make them little comic strips that are set in between episodes that would work.

Like the first several were sort of commentary on how weird it is that he seems to be there all day, and isn't he, like, really bored? It was pretty funny.

This one is just kinda a random sad meh.

[–] Fades@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

For sure, this bit started out making sense but there obviously is nowhere to go from “what does he do all day lol” so they turned into this kind of content that is so far divorced from canon it’s just meh (to me)

Would it be better if they had gone with Data?

[–] GraniteM@lemmy.world 26 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I don't need Star Trek to "redeem" all of the shit that O'Brien went through, like have him get a huge happy ending or statues built in his honor or anything, but I would like it if at some point there was a future canon story where Molly or maybe one of her kids grows up to be a truly remarkable person and they credit Miles. Like "I never would have been the person I am today if my dad hadn't worked as hard and loved me as much as he did."

Miles never cared about promotions or glory, but by God people like him are what hold the Star Trek galaxy together.

If Jesus was a carpenter then O'Brian was a plumber.

The untold labor of responsible guys is what makes the worlds turn.

Transport them both on the bridge as they are

[–] peteypete420@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago

Naw transport Riker out into space like he did to himself in one of the previous comics.

[–] RickRussell_CA@lemmy.world 18 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He came for a slice of cake.

I mean, Keiko.

I gotta be honest, I don't like these memes. O'Brien was a great character and yes he was transported chief in TNG. But he was also a badass in DS9 and I'd certainly celebrate that than poking fun at him.

[–] CeruleanRuin@lemmings.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Honestly that makes these funnier to me. This is like a milktoast parallel universe version of him, like that time Q shows Picard what his life would be like if he never got stabbed.
