Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

He’s partly right. A lot of people think Net Zero means doing something about carbon emissions when it really means paying someone to pretend your doing something about emissions

Hey! I’ll have you know that I saved the same forest in Cameroon twelve times last year. Maybe you should try doing something for a change. /s

"First off, I am very smart, maybe the smartest. My uncle was a genius so that makes me a double genius. Kammock Hairsama isn't smart, how could she be? She isn't even white. I am white always have been. That bitch Kamala, she is Indian, at least that's what she says, but I've never seen her at a Powwow, have you? Probably not because now she says she is black. I haven't seen her eat fried chicken. I don't know what she is maybe no one knows I've heard people say that. I don't know, people say Mr. President you are so smart why don't you stop the carbon thing with the air like you stopped wildfires by raking the forest? I say you can't do that, no one can because net zero is fake news. No one has seen a net zero, have you, let me tell you net zero...not a thing. How could you have a net that is zero, nets need to catch things most nets are something like net 400, lots of good nets, great nets maybe even the greatest nets here. No nets zero though no one knows, I don't know." - Donald "I'm Worth 2 Packs of Kools in Prison" Trump

I was wondering if he actually admitted not knowing about something, which would have been a first. But really, it's just a side effect of him trying to ridicule and downplay the importance of countering climate change. He essentially said that the economy was more important.

This person is fucking vile.

[–] bstix@feddit.dk 12 points 2 months ago

It's both. He obviously doesn't understand it, but that's not stopping him from ridiculing it.

Seeing his speech patterns in print remind a lot of the homeless guy on the downtown street corner yelling at a mailbox. God he's a pathetic human

He thinks an intellectual is someone talking about actual problems instead of attacking the opponent? Have I got that right? That's hilarious. Also weird. And I don't think his base will be thrilled to be called intellectual after being primed to see that as an insult for literally decades.

No one listening to him cares what net zero emissions is. He endorses policies leading us away from net zero. He doesn't give a shit.
