I have my Contacts in NextCloud and it automatically creates a calendar called "Contact birthdays" which then shows up as a aditional calendar and in the morning you get a notification on your phone or computer about that birthday.

That's great! Do I need a special calendar app? What calendar app are you using?
Just the build in on my phone or PC they all speak CalDAV
You could add those birthdays as events in your calendar instead of adding them in contacts.
It's a good option. I just hoped that I can somehow import this info from my current contacts.
NextCloud with CalDav should do all that. Put the birthdays in the Contacts, get a calendar to subscribe to with their birthdays.
Edit: I have no idea what front end you would need, though. The back end is as above.
NextCloud and CalDav is for synchronization, but I use only a single phone, so my contacts are up to date. But what calendar app would you recommend. I currently using Calindori, but it does not support importing events from phonebook as far as I know.
NextCloud automatically creates the birthday calendar based on Contacts information. So NextCloud imports the events, on the backend.
Any calendar that has alerts should work.
I use Evolution for email (which ... well, is somewhat doable with scale-to-fit), and it notifies me about contact birthdays.
