Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.

As one dude put it:

"Hes literally a walking John Cougar Mellencamp song."

Lmao. Fucking genius.

[–] qprimed@lemmy.ml 38 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

this is genius. make them attack the idea of americana itself (this dude is pretty normal, like me - why they say he craycray?). thats gonna turn the stomachs of quite a few people and show them that progressive poilitics are their politics.

I am really fucking impressed with the Democratic party right now. they are still not yet my friends, but they just got "a whole lot more less worse"

Apparently all of them lol.

[–] MelodiousFunk 4 points 2 months ago

Yeah they all sort of run together after awhile.

[–] fluxion@lemmy.world 38 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

I feel like this was their talking point regardless of who got picked, just like Trump constantly says Kamala had the most radical leftist record in Congress...lmao

The only thing that would've changed if she picked Shapiro is that they would've constantly made fun of him for sounding like Obama... which was hilarious when the Daily Show pointed it out... but Fox would've taken it to extreme levels because its exactly the sort of "sleepy joe" storyline they've been looking for to keep the MAGA name-calling/bully contingent placated.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 32 points 2 months ago

They called Biden and Hillary fucking communists...

It's actually a good thing for progressives, because when we do actually run a progressive, they don't have anywhere else to go.

They'll say the same about anyone with a D by their name, so we might as well run progressives.

[–] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 37 points 2 months ago

AOC and Manchin quickly indicated their support. Representing the spectrum of Democrats

[–] geekworking@lemmy.world 32 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They have burned out their own bullshit.

When every single opponent is the most radical left extremist who ever walked the face of the earth, it becomes meaningless ramblings even to their base. Just like crooked ~~Hilary~~, ~~Obama~~, ~~Biden~~, Harris.

[–] quicklime@lemm.ee 6 points 2 months ago

tbh as far as I can tell their base is still eating it up and coming back for seconds. it's hard to fathom.

[–] gAlienLifeform@lemmy.world 32 points 2 months ago

"Radicals call extremely normal guy radical, generally continue being weird"

[–] sturmblast@lemmy.world 22 points 2 months ago (2 children)

"Radical Left" is the most worn out and stupid insult the right uses. It means nothing when you use it for everything.

[–] Etterra@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

For them it's shorthand for "left of Hitler" at this point.

[–] MeaanBeaan@lemmy.world 19 points 2 months ago

Its completely baffling to me that anyone takes Republicans seriously. All they do is obstruct any and all legislation so that nothing can ever get done. And once someone actually manages to help people through legislation they try to spin it like somehow feeding kids is a bad thing.

At this point I'm pretty convinced 'republican' is a mental illness.

[–] Jordan117@lemmy.world 17 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That attack might have a little more juice if they didn't deploy it against every single Democrat in the last 60 years, including Joe fuckin' Biden.

[–] seaQueue@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Radical Marxist Joe Biden and his milquetoast neoliberal policies of checks notes spending money on infrastructure and tightening border controls is clearly Communist /s

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 14 points 2 months ago

These screeds just aren't remotely believable anymore. When Trump goes all in calling Harris a "horror show," it's either "That's just plainly not true" or "If that's true, why did you never even mention her name until after July 21, 2024?"

[–] mozz@mbin.grits.dev 13 points 2 months ago

This is why I like Harris’s new strategy better. A bunch of the Democrats seem like they’re still back in the 1970s expecting something coherent and non-violence-and-lies based to come out of the GOP. Pelosi needs to stop doing that.

You guys (meaning the establishment Democrats) are making excuses for a dangerous animal, and normalizing its behavior, when you try to deal with it as if it was a domesticated pet and get surprised when it doesn’t act accordingly.

[–] MyOpinion@lemm.ee 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You start feeding children and the weirdos in the GOP will start calling you everything in the book.

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 6 points 2 months ago

you could rally to build walls and for deregulation and tax cuts with a D near your name and they would say your the most extreme leftist ever

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 8 points 2 months ago

"Really, it's mystifying to me to see someone that I worked with — shall we say right down the middle — characterized on the left in this regard."

Basically an admission that Dems are center and not Left.
