So what they’re saying is that we should be launching children at the asteroids?

[–] _stranger_@lemmy.world 21 points 3 months ago

Ridiculous and inefficient. Launching asteroids at the children annihilates far more children for far less delta-v

Put elon in a Tesla, shoot him at the asteroid, let him fuck it, be a horrible parent, and then just blow them both up with a space nuke.

All Cars Are Bad. How many ICE cars also hit and kill kids? Fuck all cars.

Let's maybe move away from a car-centric society / mentality, and embrace a world with more public transit, bikability, and walkability.

I took it more to be the automated part about the cars, not so much ICE vs EV

Less than likely. Cars have been one of the most dangerous (non war) inventions of man.

Car companies even made up jaywalking, to shift the responsibility to pedestrians. They became the "perpetrators" of a crime when cars hit or killed them. "Jay" was a pejorative, a slur, back in the early 1900s. And so if you got hit by a car on the streets - which used to belong to the walkers, runners, bikers, etc. - they blamed you, not the unregulated death machine flying thru the shared space.

(personal opinion, but I wouldn't doubt if it was partially racially motivated, since the 13th amendment allows for slavery as criminal punishment)

Some day we'll be rid of 90+% of cars, and we'll be safer for it.

Nah, let's see how much worse it can get. I want to see the public transit paid with the blood if the dead.

Tesla FSD, especially V12.5 is very likely a safer driver than average human is but nobody cares because it's not about safety but about being a hater.

Also the claim about hitting thousand children is simply false. Last time I checked there's only a single fatal accident caused by FSD and that was an older version and the driver was drunk.

Let the downvoting of facts begin.

Elon: If we disable FSD just before impact, technically it doesn't count.
