MODERATORS

I want to create a space for r/Bangladesh. The government in the country has shut down the internet and I want to make decentralized options more accessible for them. I plan to see if the moderators want to join here too. If a good community forms, I am happy to hand off the moderator role.

I passed your request on to the lemmy.world community team.

Note that !bangladesh@lemmy.ml already exists and is active. Though there is no harm in having another community on lemmy.world.

If your goal is to keep communication open during another government shutdown of the internet, then perhaps you should try to host an instance locally in Bangladesh? Lemmy.world is hosted in Europe, so if you lose connection to the outside world then a community on this instance would be inaccessible.

Thanks for the help. I'm not currently in the country unfortunately. I spoke with someone who is self hosting in Bangladesh, and I will suggest an instance like that. I suppose that it is more difficult to set up a server in Bangladesh, so it is a long term goal. In the meantime, this can be a backup to the reddit one
