Remove all the ad spots then!

Haha, that will be $5-10 per month. What do you say?

[–] sabreW4K3@lazysoci.al 4 points 5 months ago

Honestly, they should offer an ad-free Play Store experience with Google One.

Ladies and gents, this is what you get when an industry stops innovating. Moving search bars up and down, adding endless "summary" pages, obfuscating pages behind others etc

[–] kitnaht@lemmy.world 10 points 5 months ago (1 children)

No it doesn't; they just moved the search bar to its own dedicated page, requiring a click.

Headline should read Google forces people to interact infinitely more with their overcomplicated shitstore.

[–] breakingcups@lemmy.world 10 points 5 months ago

Look, I'm satiated, I don't need to discover new apps nor great content through Google Play. Most apps are trash and I've never bought content through Google Play.

[–] The_Che_Banana@beehaw.org 10 points 5 months ago

sure they do.

Me: searches for specific app with nothing to do with social media

Google play: try Facebook, you'll love it!

How about giving us a way to filter away everything that involves in-app purchases and advertisements?

I've used them in the past for specific things, but I'm not sure I entirely trust them as a general app store yet.

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 months ago

But you trust Google? F-droid apps are apps that respect your freedom

[–] limerod@reddthat.com 4 points 5 months ago

Personally, I feel. The comics tab, ability to win Pixel hardware(in supported regions), personalized game searches sound good. Others are okay.

By "new apps and great content," do you mean new apps and great content for me to enjoy and have genuinely good experiences with, or just new apps and great content for me to buy through you?

I love f-droid for what it is, but discovery is not one of it’s strong suits.

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

It is way better than Google play. You can scroll by category or search for a specific app. The apps you find are actually ethical and not some malware/spyware.

[–] yuri@pawb.social 1 points 5 months ago

User ratings and sort by popularity are the two major missing features. I can use it the way it is, but it could be so much better!

[–] hperrin@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago

I’m really not looking to add a bunch more apps. I kind of want to get rid of the ones I have.
